When Aeris (Not AERITH thank you very much!) died in Final Fantasy VII, I burst into tears.
...but that wasn't a game ending.
The end of Kingdom Hearts made me cry a little, especially after Kairi found the picture Sora drew of him giving her one of those star-shaped paopu fruits. (Best Video Game couple ever bar-none. All who oppose be smited!
...but the mostpowerful angstrose from my heart when the last infant Metroid in Super Metroid saved Samus' life and then got blasted to bits by Mother Brain. Man, I was 6 years old and I screamed at the top of my lungs and beat the living gray matter out of her after that!
After I beat the game I broke down and cried not only because it was such a horrible way to die, but because I thought there weren't gonna be any more Metroid games since they were all dead now. Thank God for Retro Studios and their awesome prequels.
