Who has collected all of the flags in Assassin's Creed without using a map? I'm in the process of trying it right now. I have a large amount of them, already. If you collected all of them without using a map, how long did it take you?

For the most part, I have collected flags without glancing at the map. But I may have to cave in and use the map just to get the achievements at some point.

lol it never even occured to me not to use a map, those collection things annoy me, ubisooft seems overly fond of them, it was boring enough trying to find every templar before i gave up and looked at a map, atleast in AC2 the feathers were easier to find

I would never look for any extras like that with or without a map. I have way to many games, work, sleeping, or even just pacing around my house doing nothing before I would torture myself with anything so boring.

It gets very difficult after a while to find one. I only have 1 Hospitaller flag left, and I've wandered around randomly for at very least a couple of hours and I can't find it. I must have been right next to it a few times. It seems like it might be a good idea to just use a map. I've spent many hours already. I've killed around 35 Templars, and I've found most of the flags everywhere except Jerusalem and Kingdom, but Kingdom's all wide-open space and easy to look around, so I was planning on saving it for last. It's a major hassle.

I just went through with the map found here: http://www.assassinscreed-maps.com/AcrePoor.htm because I've spent at least a couple of hours searching for the last flag here. I went through the map and checked off each little area as I went through it, and there isn't a flag anywhere. I've spent a very long time just running around looking for it, and now I used the map and the images there and they are all in pretty obvious places like I figured. Is this a well-known problem? I just looked on another forum and they had several posts saying that flags were missing. Does something cause them to not be counted when you collect them? #@%$@$%#!!!

I've already spent so long on it now, that even starting over with a map (and evidently taking a chance with this happening again) hardly seems worth the time and effort. If this were to happen again, it wouldn't be worth the time and effort. This is pretty ridiculous. I knew it was taking too long to find the last one.

Hell no, I'd be lost without a map in that game.

Well, I started over again and I'm getting all the flags as I complete each level. So I'm on the Tamir mission, and I've done all of the investigations, gotten the view points, and saved the citizens. I have 30 of 33 flags. (I'm assuming it's 33 for the first and second parts, and 34 for the last, because I did see that Acre is that way. It makes sense) I'm still not using a map, and the only time I used a map was when I tried "Acre - Poor District" again, and hadn't missed a flag. I'm sure I'll be able to do it this time, I'm going through everything very thoroughly and methodically. :)

Alright.

So far, so good. I'm still going to find them without a map, but I did just check to see which areas contain 34 instead of 33 flags. Having one flag to find and three areas in each city to search is too much effort for me. I'm putting plenty of effort into it as is, I'm just going to know where there are 34 instead of 33 and go through without a map that way. Makes it easier, but I'm still putting time and effort into it.

I've found a lot of them, already. I'm sure I'll be able to find them, one day.

I hope they never put something like this in Assassin's Creed again. If they do, I'm going to use a map.

P.S.

Not long ago I got the achievement for "Acre - Poor District", so I had nothing strange happen this time.

WelI, I'm thinking about using a map for the rest of them. It's getting annoying. I've found all the Acre flags, 2 of 3 districts of Damascus, and the first district of Jerusalem and 33 of 34 in the poor district of Jerusalem. I've wandered around for hours looking for it, and it's starting to get very annoying. I'd like to get the achievements myself, and finding the Templars is doable, but the flags are really aggrivating.

I'm going to try to find the rest of them myself. I'd really like to know how long it took someone else to find them. I've been spending a lot of time on it, so it shouldn't take me nearly as long. I'll probably go try some more right now. I've spent so long on it already... I would feel good about doing everything myself.

About a week, I don't really see the point in guides, takes away the old school feeling of not knowing what the hell to do.

:)

I've decided I don't like guides, also. I actually kept trying, now. I figured out my problem earlier. I had left one flag in the first area of Jerusalem and I had collected all of the flags in the poor district. I finally got fed up with it and checked the online map since I was sure I had found them all. Then I found the last one in the first area (the rich district) in about a minute, coincidentally. I hopped up onto the roof to go start checking somewhere and it was sitting right in front of me.

Now I'm almost done. I have 40-something templars killed, and I've found all of the flags except the Kingdom flags and I have a little more than half of those, now. I don't want to use a guide to find anything or do anything ever again, if possible. The only thing I would do now, that I did not long ago, was use a guide to find the pigeons on GTA IV. They're absolutely ridiculous and I wouldn't get them without using a guide.
