It was a game on the Sega CD. It was also on the MSX, PS1, and Saturn, but those versions were only in Japanese I think. The game was amazing at the time, and still is. It makes references to games like Castlevania, as well. Just wondering if anyone has played it, or heard of it.

I did not really like it, did you know it was made by Kojima?

I heard good things about it and I can see why people would love the game. I played it on Ps1 but used a guide to get through it.

Well it is your opinion that Policenauts is better not a fact... Do you have any reasons why you feel it was better or are you just throwing out your opinion without any reasons.

I mean it is not wrong to like Policenauts more but you could atleast give support for your opinion if your going to go into another topic about a game then claim its superiority.

I have not played Policenauts so I cannot comment on its quality.

you like to argue over everything don't you? seriously.... I said "I feel policenauts is better" I never stated as a fact.

but the reason I like policenauts is because of the story and better layout.

the characters in policenauts are easier to connect to , in that their personalities are more developed in my opinion, also I felt the plot was deeper, you kind of knew who your enemy was in Snatcher, wheres in Policenauts, for most of the game , you don't even know who the heck youre fighting against (besides one person, who you get hints about)

lastly, I like the artwork and look of Policenauts more, its not quite as grim and brooding as Snatcher.

as for the layout, it works with a mouse (either the PS1 mouse or Saturn mouse) , and its lets you explore a little more.

Agreed. Played the game on Sega CD and I preferred Snatcher over Policenauts thanks to the story.

Oh lord, I actually spent years of my youth searching for this game when I owned a Sega CD all that time ago. I never did find a copy, but I used to read as much information about the game as possible. It just looked fantastic.

I consider it to be among the 3 best games ever made and I've played at least over a thousand games. I will never forget my first playthrough. I had gotten the game very cheap and knew it was supposedly good so I got it. then it stood on my shelve for like a few years until I was bored on a november night in 2005. I hooked up the sega cd and 2 days later with only little sleep, pizza(no neo kobe pizza) and few toiletvisits I felt like a changed person. amazing!

Yep, Snatcher is a great game. Very little game play and tonnes of dialogue, but a great experience none the less. The game references Metal Gear not Castlevania. Your little robotic sidekick looked like a mini Metal Gear (sort of like in MGS4).

yes, I had Snatcher, and a JVC X'EYE, which was an all in one Sega Genesis and Sega CD mixed together. Snatcher was made by Hideo Kojima for the pc engine (turbo grafx) and Sega CD. It played like a point and click pc adventure game of the period. The voice acting was pretty good, and the sprite graphics were nice and colorful. I enjoyed it, but it's a very short game. I would love to see a sequel on PSN ot XBLA.

if you know any Japanese, you can get the PS1 or Saturn versions for dirt cheap , sadly they have some changes to them which some fans dislike (mainly the music, which is overall worse) , but considering the English language Mega CD version goes for a small fortune online, the PS1, or Saturn versions are decent too. there is also the PC Engine CD version which is again in Japanese and the same as the Mega CD version , and cheap.

Bought it when it came out in 94. Love it. Still own it. I periodically play through the game again for the story.

I've heard rumor that Kojima may be working on a spiritual sequel (might be a sequel, or might just be a game like it...like Policenauts was) along with Suda 51.

I know a little bit of Japanese and the PS1 version would be the for me to get. Don't like the fact that the music, overall, is worse:( (such an important element in a video game). Thank you for the tip:)

One of the references to Castlevania was about how hard the games were. And if you go into one of those bars ( I think) you'll see people dressed up as Konami characters.

Never played it, but I would really like to. I like all the Blade Runner and Terminator references influences and the soundtrack is brilliant aswell.

in my opinion the storyline of this is better even than bladerunner movie. it has many references yes and at first it may seme like a rip off, but when the plot evolves and hits a climax it's very much different but even more brilliant.

Wow your still around? Thats too bad, again I think this subject of Snatcher is a bit too grown up for you. Let use adults talk about it, and being that you never played Policenauts than why comment in the first place!
