I have. The game was Paper Mario(64 version) the game was mildly difficult when all of a sudden Huff n Puff(one of the bosses) kept whupping my ass.I tried like 7 times and I couldnt beat him, so eventually I put the copy away, forgot about it and eventually sold my Nintendo 64(really bad decision).

Paper Mario was an amazing game too, probably one of the best I've played.

2 games spring to mind

Quo Vadis on the Commodore 64. Ridiculously big and difficult with now save option (like all 64 games). I played it for months but still not able to get close to finishing it.

Doom 2 on the PC. The minotaur boss at the end of one of the levels that had the rocket launcher hand. grrr!!!!

If I like a game, not finishing it is stupid imo, and if a game I like has multiple endings, I make sure to get them all. Now games I dont like, yeah I sometimes dont finish them.

Final Fantasy VIII, X, X-2 and XII. Wow why the hell haven't I finished them!? Okay VIII had super impossible last boss. In X you can't leave the last place so I never went there, hmm maybe I should. X-2 doesn't belong in this topic because it wasn't that great. I didn't have much time when XII came out in EU, maybe I should finish it now.

Nope. I always make sure that I finish all my games (even books and tv series that I started). Once I start something, I finish it. I get a strange feeling if I left something unfinished.

It's easy to say you'll finish a game you like nowadays because games today are barely a challenge - with quicksaves and 'easy' hardness options.

you guys obviously never played quo vadis. 3 lives. no extra men. ridiculously hard enemies and fire pits. Hair trigger/pixel precise jumping. no save game, and an area to explore/clear sooo big it takes many hours per game. Why did I like this game????????

Day of Reckoning 2. That mission where you are in a 4 Way Cage Match is probably one of the hardest missions in any game I have played, or maybe even made. I quit for a year, than played it again, beat the mission and about 6 hours later I beat the career mode. Somehow I enjoyed that game even though I don't really like wrestling.

That hasn't happened to me in a long time. If I'm having trouble with a game I just go to game faqs.

I remember when I was playing the wind waker. I liked the traditional zelda stuff in it, but all the sailing was dull and boring. Then when I got near the end and it told me I had to do a bunch more sailing around just to find all the pieces of the triforce. That just irritated me, felt more like a chore than something fun. It was about 2 years before I actually went back and finished it.

My comments all refer to beating a game as merely getting through its story-mode and in no way mean 100% completion:

Ikaruga is probably the only game that I like that I can't beat. I am either physically incapable or unwilling to put the time/effort into it.... either way, beyond my skills. The same can probably be said for expert on Guitar Hero. I will only try something so many times before I quit. There's a lot of games out there that I own/want to play. I'm not going to waste time on the same segment in 1 game over and over to the neglect of these others.

Now, some games don't get finished because I move on while playing them. For instance, this past Christmas was a killer. Out of all the great games that came out and that I wanted to/did play, the only one that suffered was Mario Galaxy (which is a shocker considering the number I bought). Now that it's been a while, I have a hard time going back to it. I guess games have an unplayed time threshold for me. I focus too much on the "latest and greatest", so sue me.

Most of them when I was a kid. I've still never completed OoT (I'll just lose interest for no reason, even though the game is obviously fantastic).

Nowadays I will finsh a game, apart from Dead Rising due to my lack of HDTV. I've also solemnly sworn never to touch the "easy" option for any game not guitar hero related (dyspraxia FTL).

You don't need to finish X-2 anyways the game sucked and the ending sucked. Total let down. You'd be wasting your time

yeah, sad story really... halfway throught a replay of Call of Duty 4, this time on veteran difficulty... I went on vacation, my daughter threw a kegger at my house, and her "friends" stole my games, including COD4...

Project Zero (AKA Fatal Frame). I loved that game, but it went to a far away point where I couldn't handle the frightening anymore. Sad indeed, because that was a brilliant horror game.

I finish almost everything and I think any game can be beaten if you don't give up and keep trying, but there's a few for me. I think the only one that I quit out of difficulty that I for sure will never finish is F-Zero GX; I wound up selling that game. Two others I still haven't beaten due to difficulty were Starcraft Brood War and Super Monkey Ball 2. Brood War I haven't given up on though since it's just one more chapter I need to beat, but it's a brutal one and I've been stuck on it a long time. I plan on getting through it before SC2 comes out. Super Ghouls N' Ghosts is another, the very end is quite tough and I never got past it. Then there's a couple others that I put down and can't quite figure out why. Guitar Hero was one; it's a great game but for whatever reason, I never finished it because I started playing other things and never picked it up again.

Kingdom Hearts II was a game I enjoyed, but couldn't finish because I was too far into it and my game file erased and I couldn't do it all again even though I liked it.

I regret not finish The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. I just said no effing way when i had to sail around and collect those Triforce charts, then actually go and find the Triforce shards themselves. Maybe I'll go back and finish it someday.

Three games come to mind, I think.

In Onimusha, the Water Trap (right at the the beginning of the damned game) had me so confused I tried everything, Even combos I knew wouldn't work. Then in Syphon Filter : The Omega Strain, During the final mission, I kept on dieing becuase of those nasty "Chance" troopers with those H11s. Threw the CD out the window. Oh, I don't get me started on the Max Payne IMPASSIBLE dream sequence.

Not finishing games is pretty much the story of my life. Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XII, Tales of the Abyss, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, and many more. I don't why I don't finish them. Sometimes I think I like them so much I don't want them to end so I stop. Other times I'll get tired of playing them and put them down for a while, but then when I come back to them later, I forget where everything is or where I am and what I was doing, then just end up stuck.

Planescape Torment.

I was almost done with the game, there was a few maps left to do. But there was a glitch in my game for some reason. I never replay it, nor retry it, nor try to figure out a patch. I just put it on the side. Considering I finish ID & ID2 a few times, ToEE as well...and BGs numerous times...it is safe to say that this glitch seriously hinder my interest toward the game in itself. Still have a fun game and a blast, just never wish to even bother to retry it.

There was prolly something that they didn't test properly and that went by their play tester. I remember it was a map filled with the 3 colors fiends mostly and it was outdoor, but hardly remember more.

EDIT: I check the walkthrought and the "item" to proceed forward wasn't spawned for some reason, althought I have done everything to be ready...since a few walkthroughts all confirm I should have found something to allow me to proceed and it was just not there, I didn't bother and quit it. (I check the walkthroughts when I seriously think I should give up on a game, no matter how early or late this stage comes)

I make it a point to finish every game I start, unless it's really unenjoyable. The only game I can think of that I liked and couldn't finish was Impossible Creatures for PC. Reason being... I sucked.

There was a game I beat once and never beat again despite many attempts. Coincidentally, your game is the spiritual sequel to my game.
