I guess this is the right place for this, but my first systems was a Game Boy Color then N64, GBA, Game Cube, DS and Wii. I have been a Nintendo Guy since I got into gaming. I am thinking about buying a Xbox(original, only $50 at Gamestop)but I can't seem to get over my forever Nintendoness . But I was wandering if anyone else has ever did this.

Actually bought Xbox today, lost my status as Nintendo man lol. I am good though.

No, not really. Like I've said before, every system has it's own ups and downs. So, if possible, I try and get every system. Except the Wii. No interest there. And I'm not hating on it, I'm just really not into the games that are being released for that system.

Same here! When I started gaming when I was younger I always was a 'Nintendo guy'. Not really in the anti-sony or anti-xbox (etc.) kinda way. I was always open to other gaming platforms, but when I was a kid, Nintendo seemed to be the coolest thing next to Baseball, and I whenever a new platform made by Nintendo came out I had to have it/see it in action. This Christmas I tried (key word, 'tried') to get an Xbox360. I didn't make it though :(

Yeah I have nothing against Sony or Microsoft at all, heck i most likey will use the rest of my gamestop gift card to get a Xbox to get KOTOR and Halo. There is just something about Nintendo's franchises that appeal to me more than the competitors.

Yes, I was pure Nintendo until December 22nd, 2007, but then I got a 360 (by my choice) on that day. In this past year, I've also come to acquire an original Playstation (which sees the least use of the three consoles).

Now my household contains a Wii, a 360, Playstation, and a DS. 50% loss of loyalty over a 10 year period.

my first console was an NES, which i had for a long time, and then just the old black and white gameboy. After that, i sold the NES and stuck strictly to Sega, only owning a Genesis and even a Nomad. I think i had a Game Gear for a short time, but sold it for the Nomad, which i still have.

#@%! SEGA never owned a genesis and that was back in the day when it mattered. Nintendo 4 Life lol. But yeah I used to be all Nintendo until gamecube came out I did have a PS1 but I traded some crappy speakers for it so no biggie. Now adays brand loyalty means nothing as nintendo seems to think only 12 year olds and Seniors play there games. PS2 and N64 are my all time fav systems just so many good games on them.

I was hooked on Pokemon yellow like it was crack, I love my SNES, adored my N64. But when I was a young teenager, gamecube rolled around, and I'm comparing PS2's offerings to GC's ooooooohhhh boy!

"Super monkey ball... the ****? Pikmin? This looks gay This thing can't play DVDs and all that looks good so far is Rogue Squadron ll"

"Hhmmm... PS2... GTA3 looks/sounds fun, so does MGS2, oh a WW2 shooter! (when they were still fresh) Resident Evil is on Playstation (lol) Twisted Metal, Devil May Cry..."

Ironically I generally disliked Nintendo franchises (Zelda, Metroid, Kirby) and only had two Mario games. Yoshi's Island and Super Mario RPG.

Hell no. Limiting yourself to one company's hardware is an extremely stupid way to game, otherwise known as fanboyism.

Practically speaking, if a single system can fill a guy's availiable time/scratch all of the itches of a gamer, it doesn't make sense for him to spend money on additional hardware (money spend on systems and controllers and what have you is money not spent on games). Also, there is no point in spending ever increasing amounts of money on hardware which the manufacturer doesn't stand behind.

well I have a good variety of consoles over the past 20 years, not any 1 brand specifically. But! for video cards I have always rolled with nvidia, even now they are arguably the under dog to ati's power ful 4870 x2's with the 600 streamed proccessors or something like that. nvidia is a wawa 240 streamed processors GPU is still cool cause I always use em anyway.

ok so I did buy a used 9800xt ati card back in 2005 so I could play half life 2 on a old athlon xp gamming pc I was using then. it worked great for what it was suppose to do and I don't think nvidia found out about it (peeks around the corner....shhhhh)

when I got tired of the fps single player walk through style of play in early 2006, I loaded in world of warcraft and since they use nvidia cards primarily, I snaggled a pny 6800gt and took out the 9800xt, there was a noticable difference between the two cards, not blow your skirt up to the ceiling or anything and get your coffee in your lap, but good enough.

anyways, you do what you want, you game how you want, if you want to sneak off and get that xbox MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T HAVE THAT STUPID CRAPPY PIECE OF JUNK NO GOOD ANNOYING AND RELENTLESS DISC READ ERROR (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((STOCK THOMPSON DRIVE))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

god I wish i could color the text, blow it up and make it flash!!!!!

make sure the xbox has the cool samsung drive in it, with the 80-pin ribbon cable, not the 40 pin cable 2!!!!!!

otherwise enjoy! oh and get halo 1 and 2 if you do :)

Actually I have been completely content only having Nintendo products so far. 360 is expensive as is the PS3. I have a open mind to all the companies, its just Nintendo's original franchises that make me come back.

I've gotta call BS on that based on what you said in the first post about not wanting to basically break your Nintendo-only run. We're not talking about $300 360 or $400 PS3, we're talking about a $50 Xbox that only the brand name is keeping you reluctant about buying.

Aside from back in the 8-bit era no, I only owned a NES. I can't really see a reason to limit oneself especially later on when the systems are cheaper and the library of games is more extensive.

No.

I started out on the console side as a big fan of the NES. But I've had most consoles that weren't total crap that came out after it, up until the PS2 and GC (never had an Xbox or any of the current generation consoles and most likely never will).

Especially after the SNES it's a good thing I wasn't close-minded considering how very bad the N64 was.

I understand your loyalty, but no, I own most systems released in the U.S since 1978. At times I have had biases so bad that they delayed my purchase of consoles, but after getting a "forbidden" system I've always found myself enjoying it greatly. I'd encourage you to get an XB and give it a try, it's a very low risk proposition and there are plenty of games out there for you to enjoy (and you only live once IMO).

Well I always owned one system at a time, if that is what you mean.

Consoles: SNES, Sega Genesis Playstation Playstation 2 Xbox Xbox 360. But I'm still thinking about a PS3. This generation has really outdone itself.

Handhelds: Gameboy (original fat one), Sega Game Gear, Gameboy color, Gameboy Advance.

Well, I'm open minded when it comes to gaming. I buy what I think would make me happy. Here's the list of all the gaming systems I acquired through the years(including PC). I also included their current status.

1.) NES (SOLD)

2.) SNES (My friend FRIED it)

3.) PC: (All SOLD)

* 386DX 40Mhz, 4MB RAM, 421MB HDD, VGA 256K

* 486DX2 80MHz, 8MB RAM, 2.1G HDD, 1MB S3 Trio64V2

* AMD K5 P75, 64MB RAM, 2.1G HDD, 2MB S3 ViRGE

* Pentium 133MHz, 128MB RAM, 2.1G HDD, 3Dfx Voodo1 6MB (The first "real" 3D accelerator)

4.) Playstation 1 (DEFECTIVE LENS)

5.) Dreamcast (Still working!)

6.) PC that I won from the office * Pentium 4 3.0GHz HT, 512MB RAM, Crappy Intel 865 Video chip, 40G HDD (Handed down to sister)

7.) PC (AMD Athlon X2 4400, 1GB RAM, 160G HDD, nVIDIA 7300GT 512MB) - What I'm using right now

9.) PSP (In the cabinet -- since I bought my DS, my PSP started eating dust)

10.) DS (My baby right now!)

There you have it! I don't feel the need to upgrade my PC yet since it pretty much plays my back log of GREAT games (PoP Trilogy, Doom 3, Far Cry, HL2, Quake 3 and 4, BIGFISH "Casual" Games). I'm still using my Dreamcast for arcade type games such as Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 and Strteet Fighter 3 (and I haven't finished Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue 2 yet!). I swore that I won't buy any of the new generation systems (PS3, X360) as long as my dreamcast still works(I will probably have to hope it breaks when PS4 or X720 comes so that I'll have a reason to buy!). As I mentioned my PSP is eating dust inside my cabinet. I don't know how I missed this, but DS is the BEST portable gaming system ever!! I'm playing Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia right now and games that PSP won't be able to handle such as Trauma Center and Ninja Gaiden.

Whew! Feels good to bring back the memories...

Never. Even as a former, hardcore Nintendo fanboy back in the day, I still bought and played games on other consoles. What if I only wanted a N64?! I would've missed out on Suikoden 2, Final Fantasy VII, Chrono Cross, and Metal Gear Solid!!! CRAZY!!!

I don't think so, I probably got my PS1 and Gameboy at around the same time but it was a long time ago (I'm not as retro as some of you people :P). I also recall having what was probably a Super NES very early in my childhood but can't be sure.

I was tainted by Sega years ago, but I've historically been primarily a Nintendo gamer. Not so recently, however. Here's what I've had, not in order of purchase:

1. NES

2. SNES (x2)

3. N64 (traded in)

4. GC

5. Wii

6. Game Boy Color (traded with my uncle for his GBA)

7. Game Boy Advance (sold)

8. DS

Now for the non-Nintendo stuff:

9. Sega Master System (sold)

10. Genesis

11. Xbox

12. PS2

13. PC

And since the PS2 is backwards compatible with PS1 games, I have some of those.

This gen, I was impatient and bought into the Wii hype, so I took the plunge for that, even after knowing that the GC became my least favorite console last gen due to its smaller library. While I want the other two current-gen consoles, I just can't afford them. Furthermore, I need to use my gaming PC as a game system more often, and as it happens, most of the console games I currently want that aren't on the Wii are also on the PC. So really, I don't even need another console, unless it's for true exclusives like MGS4... but I'm not getting any system for just one game.

no ive almost always been a multiplatform guy. I own a 360 and Wii and the only reason I don't have a PS3 is because its too expensive and not enough games for me. I'll get one eventually though so it's not a fanboy thing.

I don't believe in "fanboyism". I've been playing video games for 30 years and I always get the systems that has the most games that I like. In fact, I recommend that a person have at least 2 of the 3 main systems out so that they are able to have a good variety of games. No one company can fulfill all of my gaming needs.

I always had nintendo until the GC (i was a fanboy when they were up against sega hahaha). I don't own a Wii, it's the only console of current gen I don't have! The games on it just don't appeal to me. Mario Kart just has not been the same since the SNES. If they brought out a side scrolling remake of donkey kong country, I would buy a Wii :) Like others have said, my gaming habits have changed, I now buy the consoles that have the games I like. I also play quite a lot of PC games.

:lol: A bunch of guys saying (with what I assume is seriousness) that to own only one system is to be a fanboy. Anyone who makes that claim with a straight face needs to get out more. I've known lots of gamers and many of them own one system not because they believe that it has a monopoly on good games, but because it has the library they are most interested in and its affordable to them.

Multisystem ownership has always been a very rare phenomena, and I imagine its rarer this gen both because of the higher prices of consoles and the fact there are a lot less exclusives than there used to be (partly because for the first time in history, the system in the dominant sales position doesn't have an audience interested in a broad range of games).

There is nothing wrong with owning multiple systems (I would be a multisystem owner is MS hadn't decided that the X360 would be the most unreliable system every manufactured) but regarding deep pockets as a virtue is kind of stupid. Back when I was a multisystem owner, I didn't look down my nose at the unwashed who owned a 'mere' one system :P.

What you said before was definitely right, Carnage. I had all three systems last gen, but I could have had a bunch more games if I'd had only one, due to the cost of buying multiple systems. Unfortunately, the GC was my first system, and the second was the Xbox, so I never would have been completely satisfied. Now I only have a Wii for a console, but I figure I can get most of the console games that interest me for my PC, so all is well.

I used to by a Nintendo gamer but then soon I started to play more mature games on the gamecube. I was craving for more until I decided to get the original Xbox.

I've never thought of limiting myself to one companies game systems... But I've never noticed:

I only have Nintendo stuff! That must mean I'm a Nintendo fan! Right..?
