Have you held onto any of your original consoles from childhood?

Me, not really. Not in the way where I use and display them anyway. Still have my original PS1 in a plastic bag tucked away on my shelf. My dad still owns our fat silver PS2.

My grandma owns 3 Gamecube consoles. Used to be 4 but I sold a black one to a classmate who wanted to play Twilight Princess. Currently own one black, purple, and silver I believe. One of them I used to play excessively growing up. (Most probably the purple one.)

I used to own a hand-me-down SNES that I got from a family member years ago, but sold it off along with the games a few years back. Kind of wish I sold the games separately because I think I literally sold the console plus 6-8 games for only $50...console hadn’t discoloured either nor did most of the cartridges.

I have an old Atari 2600 (that's almost certainly suffered moisture damage or somesuch from being in storage), a Sega Genesis, and an original PS1. Though, I didn't specifically hold onto them for sentimental reasons so much as I just don't think I'd get much for them (if they even still work).

I still have my SNES and that was the foundation of my gaming career and will never get rid of it as it was my entry to the world of games. I have sold very few consoles in my life time but SNES holds more value then anything else.

Sadly no, and that's heavily due to limited space. If I find out the latest hardware has my classic games, I ditch the older model. The rare exception is if the new versions are technically inferior.

My family even had many old DOS P.C. games and they're no longer around. Luckily a few are on a HDD thanks to GOG. Though it's sad some of the classics get lost to time.

Yeah. They're all in boxes tho.

I do really enjoy pursuing modern ways to get as close to the original experience as possible.

N64 although I was a teen when it came out but I do still have my old nes cleaning kit for some reason laying around.

Yea, my old 360 from 07 and my PSP from 08. I was in high school when I got both and I'm 28 rn. Both still work too.

I've got my top loader nes still, I had to sell it because I was really broke but a few months later I saw it for sale on fb for cheaper than what it sold for and it was the exact same console the serials matched.

I've still got my Colecovision from around 1983. I don't know if the thing still works, but I store it in a fairly dry place.

I've also not gotten rid of my xbox 360.

The only console I kept was Gamecube... and I'm so glad I did. I still play it regularly (probably my most nostalgic console).

I really wish I'd kept a few others too, like my OG Xbox (although the disc drive was faulty), and maybe my old Gameboy Colour & GBA SP.

I really wish I still had a working GBA. I stuffed my red SP by jumping in the pool without realising it was still in the pocket of my boardshorts. Nothing quite like playing a genuine GBA instead of emulation.

I had an original Xbox. I remember selling it for $50 back in 2009-2010. Not sure if I got ripped off? I was 13 at the time anyway. Lol.

This is generally what I do as well. I'm even considering getting the new Switch with the slightly better battery life. Probably won't hold onto my current one either as I'm a minimalist in some ways. :P

@speeny: I upgraded to the better battery model day-one seeing as use these devices as handhelds more often than not. It's roughly two extra hours and is a big deal if you use Switch portable daily.

In honesty wasn't the biggest fan of base Switch. As a device, was very underwhelming over the vastly superior 3DS models.

@speeny: I've been checking out GBAs and Game Boys on Ebay... some are reasonably priced.

I might take the plunge one day.

The oldest I still own is my ps2, which still comes out from time to time for games like Bully & Monopoly Party. Two games that are at their peak on the console. Best build quality console of all time IMO.

I've kept every system, so they're all originals.

Sadly no, I have parted with all of my childhood consoles. Usually sold them to help fund the next generation console and games.

Luckily I have replaced a few of them since and have a growing collection of games from my childhood.

I have all my Nintendo consoles, but sold my Playstations.

Cause Nintendo ones are better, yes.

@Willy105: Yeah, I agree. I have hardly used my PS4. Nintendo is just more comfortable for me. Especially with the Switch.

All of them except for my Sega Saturn which I let a friend borrow who then sold it for drug money. I don't play them and probably never will again. Not really one for nostalgia but I respect their relative scarcity.
