Yes, played it and Phantom Brave. No, it's not good at all. My brother loves the series, but I see it for the boring, menu driven, long winded snoozefest it is. I suppose if you really like strategy and clicking a lot of things, this will be your thing.
It's too Japanese for me. That is to say the anime artstyle is about as stereotypical as it gets, the voice acting is awful, the game itself is beyond hardcore and requires more grinding than almost any other series out there.

I've played them all Disgaea 1 - Best Strategy Rpg ever created Disgaea 2 - O.k it's pretty good, just not as charming as the first Disgaea 3 - Just as good as the first if not better. Prinny - Really good game.

Depending on how you play it, and yeah... I've played it. I put about ten hours into it and quit. It was a cool internet fad for a while, but I think people caught on to just how lame the game is (and just about every other Atlus TRPG game).

And the acting is awful in the same way that Attack of the Killer Tomatoes' performances are awful; it's an accurate statement, but lobbying it as a criticism is missing the point. Unfortunately, I lost the DS port of the game, along with my DS, so no more Disgaea for me. :(

Same thing with the voice acting, too. I think I might just forgive it more as the game came out back on the PS1.
i played disgaea 2 and it was meh. it looks ugly and the scoring is annoying. the main gameplay is solid (even though fire emblem is better) though, even if theres probably more grinding than there should be.
Disgaea is a love it or hate it thing. The gameplay is insanely complex, the art style is quite good if you're into anime but maybe a bit too much for not-otakus. And it's definitely not a graphic whore so don't expect much there.
If you don't get addicted to it you will hate it. It's just that type of hardcore game.

Prinny - Really good game. Oh god, Prinny is terrible. Never have I seen a game which gets its core gameplay utterly wrong. Make a platformer with terrible jumping mechanics- who thought this was a good idea?
