Help! HDTV cut-off with PS2

I just picked up my HDTV yesterday, but I've been having some issues with it's compatibility with PS2 already. About 2/3 of the time, the PS2 will display with what appears to be major screen cutoff. however, it also displays, on occasion, with the top-most part displaying on the bottom, a black bar in the middle, and the bottom part on the top.

Unplugging/replugging the PS2 connection to the TV sometimes resolves this issue.

Is this a problem with the TV? With the PS2? The two in tandem with each other? The PS2/tv wire? The video 1 inputs? Or can it be corrected in the menu somehow?

Did you connect the PS2 to the TV with a PS2 component output cable (highly recommended, especially for an HDTV).

Also, there are settings for the screen ratio (4:3, 16:9 widescreen) in the PS2 configuration menu, but you may only see them when a component cable is used.
