Hello, currently I enjoy lite rpgs (the mario rpg series for example) and strategy rpgs (Fire emblem, Advance wars) . Ive been looking to start playing some deeper rpgs from older systems (snes and before) or handhelds ( I have all of em ). I like games that have turn based or action combat, but I hate rpgs that have unskippable cutscenes and play more like a book then a game. Gameplay > story for me, can anyone recommend me some fun rpgs :D

I just started playing the Breath Of Fire series on the Snes. I would also suggest Skies of Arcadia, Grandia, Tales of Symphonia, Odin Sphere, Secret of Mana, Shinning Force, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon, Suikoden, Radiata Stories, Wild Arms 3, and Lufia 2. Oh, and then there's this little RPG franchise called Final Fantasy. You may have heard of it before. Anyway, I would reccommend 3(6), 7, 9, 10, and sometimes 12. I'm sure there are some other RPG's I'm forgetting, but that's a pretty good starting point. I would stick to the Snes, PS1, Saturn, and Dreamcast. Oh and the PS2.

Chrono Trigger would be perfect for you. It's a little more in depth than Mario RPGs, but not quite as complex as some of the Final Fantasies. I know I'm not alone in thinking it's one of the best RPGs (and games) of all time. Seriously, give this one a try, I don't think you'll be able to put it down til you finish it.

One thing this game did that no other game I've played has done as well is a combat system that uses multiple character attacks so amazingly.

You should try Crono Cross, Crono Triger, Diablo for PC, Final Fantasy X and VII (the ones I liked) and also Of you like Mario try Paper Mario. Although isn't a RPG game is really good, you may have heard of zelda link to the past, try this one.

Sword of Mana is a great action RPG for the SNES. Very simple and fun.

Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross(ps1) are also recommended.

Ill try to find Chrono Trigger, it looks fun. I tried the FF series but were a bit to complex and the newer ones have to much story in them

I think you would really enjoy some DS games. Disgaea(tactical), FF:CC Ring of Fate(action), Digimon World Dawn/Dusk(klassic), Rune Factory(action+farm sim), and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass(action). Thats a whole crapload of gameplay right there. I'd HEAVILY recommend getting Phantasy Star Zero thats getting dropped later on this year also. Chrono Trigger remake is also immenent for DS.

I cant think of rpg's for the sne/nes off the top of my head that fit what you want. Star Tropics(nes/action), Uncharted Waters: New Horizon(snes/umm tactical?), Secret of Mana(snes/action).

Looking over my list of fav's for snes I guess I would also go with Ogre Battle(tactical?), Shadowrun(action), and Act Raiser 1(side scroller/city builder). Lots of other great rpg's but I think they are to heavy in story for you or more traditional combat that is boring.

if you have an xbox get fable or elder scrolls (you can skip the cutscenes and there is action)

I don't know about the psp and ds versions. I think the psp was a new story or a spin off. The DS version i think was the original Disgaea 1.

I concur. It's definitely what you described as a "lite" RPG, and it is very reminiscent of the Earthbound/Mother series.

Chrono Trigger probably got the greatest soundtrackof any RPG. I still got the goose bumps from listening to Secret of the Forest.
