But here's the catch, I don't want the typical Final Fantasy, Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid recommendations. I'm looking to get games that weren't as widely popular as those but equally as great, kind of like Tomba 2, Megaman Legends etc etc, oh and I love games with tons of easter eggs so if you know of any for ps1 I'd love to try it!

Team Buddies isn't too mainstream, is it?

Jade Cocoon was also good. Not sure how mainstream it was. It got a Jade Cocoon 2 a little while back, but I've never actually met anyone that's played the original.

King's Field 1 & 2 are awesome action-RPG games for the time, played from the first-person view.

Apocalypse is a fantastic run-n-gun game.

Future Cop L.A.P.D. is fun, just blow the hell out of everything game.

Thunder Force V is a fan-freaking-tastic shoot-em up.

Bloody Roar 1 & 2 are great 3D fighting games with a twist.

Brave Fencer Musashi scratches the Zelda itch, with Squaresoft overtones, and has more of a sense of humor.

Vigilante 8 1 & 2 are fantastic vehicular-combat games in the same vein as Twisted Metal, but with a bit more style.

Here's one more: X-Files, it seems pointless, but you will love the motion video perspective of this game, just look up some Gameplay videos on it, only 2 small not super important problems however: (if you do find it cheap like 2-6 bucks for it, just waste the money :P The game doesn't tell you at all where to go, so it's a matter of your own gut and instincts, but if you want that kind of game, go right ahead :), and The graphical interface tends to crap out at times, maybe it's my discs (comes with 4 discs BTW) so the pointer might end up looking s crewy, if you can escape that, you got yourself a nice game to hold you over for quite sometime. Small tip: SAVE A LOT!

what i loved about the first one is depending on how you trained your digimon it evolved differently, and if trained too much it can die, does digimon world 3 use the same system?

Tenchu 2

Ape Escape

Future Cop LAPD

Driver 2

Tomb Raider games

Bushido Blade 1 & 2

Out of these, Tenchu 2 gets an especially honorable mention. I never see people talking about it, but it's one of my favourite games of all time.

"REEL Fishing I & II" - Seriously. I know they're fishing games, but they're not like any other game on the market. They're quiet, relaxing, oddly compelling games with cool mo-cap locations like lakes and rivers - A wonderful sorbet from action, shooting, and other hyper stuff, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Also, "Pandemonium I & II" are GREAT platformers no one EVER talks about, but trust me they are tops. For 3D platforming, I really had a fondness for "Jersey Devil".

How the different evolutions work in 3 depends on how much you already use certain evolutions that you already have unlocked. You have team of three, all of which have a core level. Then, they have their evolutions, each one having its own set of levels. It's interesting, and the amount of different evolutions you can unlock and how you unlock them made it really nice.

Tenchu 2 is THE best stealth game for PS1. I wish there was a game like that for PC. The atmosphere is amazing; it's the best attempt to a feudal Japanese ninja stealth game up till now. Somehow this genre isn't popular and why that it is, is beyond me! Ninja's are cool, feudal Japan is cool, games like Splinter Cell work really well so why not make a "last ninja skyrim"...??? Oh man, if I only was a millionaire... I would hire the best dev-team!!!

Aye.

It also had non linear gameplay, a cool story, multiple characters with different story modes, an amazing level editor and cool characters, bosses and music.

There have been more recent Tench games on newer consoles but the devs from those games just couldn't capture what Tenchu (1 and) 2 had. :(

Thousand Arms - A great RPG with Sim/date elements, one of my favorites of the console.

Eternal Eyes- Traditional turn-based strategy RPG with monster taming elements kinda like Pokemon.

Sayuki: Journey West- Another turn-based SRPG with a unusual story, worth checking out.

Azure Dreams- An RPGdungeon-crawlerbut with unique twists like monster taming and Sim/date elements and you can use money to buy new properties later on and a new house, have a girlfriend and stuff like that, really addicting.

Front Mission 3- A mech SRPG, also a very high-quality game.

Dragon Valor- An action-adventure with a great replay value due in part to the fact that you play as multiple characters in multiple generations, like decisions you make in the course of the game determines which wife/husband the character you are controlling will marry and have different children with a completely different story than the other.

I loved Digimon World. The training and battle system were unique at the time, and you could train the digimon to fight on their own for the most part. At that point, it was all about exploring, making only some support from the human character necessary in battles. Nothing was quite as exciting as the first time my Kuwagamon digivolved into a Hercules Kabuterimon. And nothing was quite as heartbreaking as seeing him die moments before I started the final battle.

Digimon World 2 and 3, however, were terrible in comparison. Both of those games had way too much grinding required, and the magic of training your monsters was gone, replaced by a tedious dungeon crawl and bland turn-based combat. I haven't found anything quite like Digimon World. DW had tons of interesting gameplay elements, and I wish some other RPG would incorporate them today.
