I think they are RPGs, but what are they called when u don't haveenemies popping up every 6 seconds or enemies that are always respwning? If you played Kingdom Hearts 2 (or maybe 1, I've only played the second) and Final Fantasy X you know what I mean. I don't like those kind of games so I'm trying to avoid them. What are they usually called?

I'm trying to branch around JRPGs but they all seem to have it. I don't understand why games have this feature, it seems pointless to me. So far I have Persona FES and I am only at the part where I go into the school for the first time so I don't know if it does this or not but so far so good. When it is done right it is okay i guess, but many games just have bad guys popping up every few seconds and it gets on my nerves..

Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross only have visible enemies walking around that battle you.

I hate RNG battles aswell. For example I love Pokemon and Final Fantasy but the RNG battles make me want to gouge my eyes out from frustration at times, every 3 seconds when you walk around getting interrupted. It even made me take week long breaks of FF games and even Xenogears, just because I cba with the RNG

RNG battles are pretty much a oldschool, obligatory RPG element it seems.

They're called "good RPGs."
