Help! Why won't my new 360 play games?

I got a 360 and madden 07 today, but I can't play it. I put the disc in, and the 360 thinks the game is a dvd. A message then pops up that says, "To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console." Anyone know what's going on?

mine started saying that with some games, the first being NBA Live (Horrible Game Anyway, Wasn't Mine), and eventually well as of now it will not recognize anything and I can only play XBLA titles. So uhh I hope you got a warranty, cuz you're gonna have to either get your tray fixed or its the lens (yes already).

Anyway, the TC should take IMMEDIATLY the system to the store and ask for a replacement. The thing's busted! And if he just got it, it should have a warranty, right?

Nah, I'm going with probably the millionth defective 360 being the gravest injustice. It's not fair that this poor gamer is going to have to wait longer to become dissapointed by such a crappy game.

I wouldn't buy a console just for a game. Look at windows. There are better operating systems out there.
