Does anyone have recommendations for a game like World of Warcraft but played offline? I enjoyed the questing, combat, and leveling, but not the multiplayer or subscription fees. Any alternatives?

Happy Holidays,

Boz

You could try the good Diablo clones, such as Sacred.

You could try Guild Wars. It can be played virtually single player.

City of Villains is the right cure if you want online and have the OPTION to meet other players (but no obligation of any form, you can get the best epic l33t by soloing).

Dungeons Runners or Guild War might be okay on the "free department".

But personnally, I stick to City of Villains...I didn't like the hero concept, nor the spandex...which make me perfect to play a Villain and hunt the silly spandex wearers down! :P See, there is something visceral into fighting as an enemy of thestyle you generally dislike(super heroes)...and great fun to be made! And Villains, are generally a LOT nicer then heroes for some reasons! Niak niak niak! Either you may enjoy been a Wolverine, a Superman, a Batman...or a Magneto, a Dr. Evil, or a fallen hero hunting everything that is "evil", including all superpowered mutants! :P

MMORPG without the MMO part? That must be... RPG. Or is the grinding part essential?

Does it matter how old it is? If you want a recent game, get The Witcher if you haven't already. If you don't mind dated graphics, there's Baldur's Gate 2, Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment to name few.
