Anyone? I've been trying for a while now. I've been to EB Games today and saw some young people and thought I could just try making close friends with them. But I want it to seem natural. We both like games, so I guess it could be easy. But see, after I talk to them (small talk, making small talk about games, etc.), can I ask them for their e-mail or something? Yeah, I'm that desperate for a friend, but what else can I do? If you were that gamer and the desperate guy was talking to, how would you react?

Xbox Live name, PlayStation, etc. that's if you play online though.

Okay, well I don't play online.

Hey Man, there are many ways to make friends and places to meet people.

Even for confident people, it is pretty ballsy to just walk up to a group of strangers and
start talking to them, let alone try to make friends with them. Kudos to you for trying.

Friendship comes largely from sharing experiences. It is hard to just make friends with
somebody on the spot. I am going to speak for myself and what I think most people would say and
tell you that most friends come from the workplace, family connections, school, clubs, church or
proximity (meaning they live close by). Some environments or time periods in one's
life just suck for making friends. All you can do is stay strong.

Depending on your age there should be a number of ways to go out and meet people. Whatever your hobbies
are right now, I assume gaming, try to get involved or start a league. Go to a midnight release party,
go to a store Kiosk and hang out and play the set up, talk to the people around you or get a job at a gamestore.
You can join some sort of online community or club and try and meet face to face with people in it, even from
this forum. You can vlog on youtube, blog, twitter, facebook, myspace to reach out to people in the realworld.

Make sure to smile.

Try hosting a Lan Party, Get some posters up at your local EBgames, invite some people that you see to it, and It should be a great time to have fun and make a lot of friends

Go for it, you've got nothing to loose but don't get discouraged.

Actually, I'd reccomend trying something other than gaming for a bit. Try something a bit different that you think you may be good at, book reading club, chess, a sport, woodworking or music. I only say this because it will broaden your interests and general knowledge...which makes conversations easier, because they won't get stuck on video-games. As well, learning something new forces you to socialize with someone else, whether it be your coach or a fellow newbie. If you do find some people that are up for a bit of gaming or something such, I'd actually reccomend hitting up an arcade (assuming there's still one aruond where you live) or cybercafe before the home setting of a LAN.

I can't agree more with this guy. You should try something other than gaming because as you said, you don't play online game, which means while gaming, there are only yourself with the computer or console. How about using some service on your mobile phone network? There are plenty of them, you register a profile for a small fee, including name, age, location ect... and they can find you not only one but several dates. It could be great fun, I promise!
