Like the Battlestar Reference lol, I would have preferred what the frell instead from Farscape though XD
But anyway, I really enjoyed Assault. The flying missions were a lot of fun as was the multiplayer. I just wish the on-foot missions had better controls though.
I can't remember if it was Assault or Adventure, but I rented one of them back in the day and freakin hated it. I remember there being a lot of on-foot missions and I was like ftw, this isn't Star Fox! I wish Nintendo would just make a proper sequel to Star Fox instead of screwing with us for over a decade :(

Starfox Adventure is the one that's basically a 3D Zelda game, with Starfox characters and locations.
It was fun. I liked the on foot sequences more than most, but my issue with it was how linear the story was. One of the reasons Starfox 64 is so playable and great is because each playthrough can potentiall take you through different sets of levels. Still a good game. Not great, but good definitely.
I think nobody played Assault because Adventures just wasn't any good. That is why I have no plans to play it.
I have that game for my Gamecube. It is Just that Star Fox Assault arrived late for the Gamecube. It is the real sequal to Star Fox 64. Namco did a good job with this game.
Yup, Assault is my favourite Star Fox game, I love all the games but the addition of the on foot missions was really good IMO, some of them you could still fly around and land, use the landmaster etc.
The multiplayer was awesome aswell, I remember hording hours of playtime/matches to unlock the Wolfen aswell lol
Here's the problem. You're basing how a Zelda clone did, compared to a shooter.I think nobody played Assault because Adventures just wasn't any good. That is why I have no plans to play it.

I sort of agree, and I'm a Starfox junkie. The original and 64 are two of my favorites. However, now that I'm over the "ah what is this crap" in regards to adventure, I'm going to pick up both games. In the case of adventure I'm just interested to see what they did with the characters(no spoilers please:)).I think nobody played Assault because Adventures just wasn't any good. It really isn't a bad game. It's a decent enough Zelda clone. Plus the animations and graphics for Fox are astounding.
The fact that Rare was producing some of the biggest games around during the N64 generation, made a couple of GameCube games to lukewarm reception, and is now no longer with Nintendo--and in ways doesn't exist anymore because of the performance of their GameCube titles, financially.Adventures is awesome, where is all of this coming from

They only did ONE GameCube game. Their XBOX games got even worse reception than that.Adventures is awesome, where is all of this coming from

Well, it was a good game with some irking problems, one was the annoyance of respawning enemies even while still in the levels and the fact that the ending battle kinda came out of left field and felt disjointed from the rest of the game, but taking that aside, it was a really competent Zelda style game with plenty of gameplay variety and puzzles. Worth mentioning that is still one of the best looking Gamecube games out there.Adventures is awesome, where is all of this coming from

StarFox Assault is a great game, I really enjoyed it if it is a bit short. That is why it has the option of multiples play throughs to earn all the different medals and to discover all the hidden items in the levels. I think a lot of people overlooked this game because it wasn't developed by Nintendo itself, but rather Namco. I don't know why but StarFox as a whole has been poorly handled by Nintendo in recent years; there was no game in the series for Wii and we only got a rehash of StarFox 64 on 3DS. I really hope WiiU gets a more ambitions entry in the series.SciFiCatIf 64 3D even sold well (and it did, but only in North America, EU is unknown, but in Japan it sold badly), but if not, Miyamoto threatened to kill the series.

I love StarFox but I already bought SF64 when it originally came out at full price. Really disappointing statement coming from him.Adventures is awesome, where is all of this coming from

i think Adventure has that beat to be honest in terms of looks.I loved the game. One of the best games on the Gamecube, IMO. And the best looking StarFox game.

You mean on-rails shooter in 2013? Also you said on-foot "missions' so you must be talking about assault. both Adventure and Assault have better on rails segments than 64, they just put some extra genre in their.I can't remember if it was Assault or Adventure, but I rented one of them back in the day and freaking hated it. I thought the on-rails sections of Adventures were one of the wrost parts of it. Really simple and repetitive. Fly through the rings, wheee!
