so i've been playing alpha protocol lately and playing it was a big surprise. this game is fun not perfect or the mass effect killer but it is a great game in its own right and maybe mass effect 3 could take a few things from it. while playing it i realized that this game along with Godhand,Killer 7,Too Human andDeadly Premonitionare good to great games that a lot of people will never play. I also am realizing that reviewers are extremely mainstream and arent that valid when it comes to unique games.so tell me gamespotters what are your top 5 hidden gems or cult hits.

I agree with your point. Deadly Premonition, despite all of its graphics downsides, is by far the second best game i have played on the XBOX 360 and in my top 5 favorites of all times. It is the best psychological thriller by a milestone, beating the Silent Hill series and making Alan Wake look like a boring child play. So says Mr. Stewart....

I can't think of any cult hits, since it seems to come up as classic games from way back, not recent stuff that didn't get a good review or was made by some indie developer which I can personally rate over some of the mainstream stuff I have thoroughly enjoyed recently, like Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2, which seem to be the games that are "cool to hate to make us sound more underground". Gamespot has recommended me some JRPG games such as Agarest, which I checked out, only to find it's an absolute crock of ****! Lucky for me I rented it, I don't see the appeal in that at all, I would prefer sleep.

darwania, garry's mod(not really a game per say), audiosurf, far reach to say condemned 2?, I don't think cult hits are as popular or prevalent as they once were

on that note,I always thought Majesty: Kingdom Sim was a great game even though very few played it.

XIII is a cult game to me. The mutliplayer is what keeps me coming back to it.

Demon's Souls, even though it's become somewhat popular, still fits in the cult hit category. It's probably one of the best cult hits out there. Condemned 2 seems more like a hidden gem, because it's never really developed a fanbase.

I love that game!

Also, the Punisher for the PS2

KillSwitch PS2 (this is the daddy of all cover-based gaming but doesn't get any props at all)

The Darkness 360 (I really wish they made a sequel, it was so cool and unique)

And I do really really want to play Deadly Preminition when I finally get a chance to buy it.

Oh yeah, and The Way of the Samurai series PS2, 360. All these games are so awesome, you can get it next gen over Amazon for like 15$ guys. It's so great, check it out. :D

Demon's Souls, Odin Sphere and Ninja Blade for me. I have Deadly Premonition but I still haven't played it. Oh, also Freedom Fighters.

So agreed. I even enjoyed the multiplayer :P

And, on this same developer coin, I'd like to put out Kane and Lynch, Horribly underrated game.
