Condemned (360/PC)
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (xbox/PC)
FEAR (PS3, 360, PC)
I was about to say RE4.. but its not really horror.. and there are flying bugs in one bit.jjr10
Have it. That's one of the few games with insects that I can play.
Same for Eternal Darkness: there are some scorpion-like creatures here and there.
Horror and insects get along pretty fine, so yours is a tough search (like finding a fantasy game without undead).
In fact, the PEGI (european version of the ESRB) uses symbols to describe a game's contents: for horror games it uses a spider. Check it out here.
is it that you're afraid of insects or that you think they are an overused horror element?smerlus
I'm afraid of giant insects in movies and video games, but there are a few exceptions.
Silent hill 1, 2, 3 (Silent hills are very similar to RE)
Shmiity
Isn't there a giant moth in Silent Hill?
Jersey, you may like Penumbra Overture, I don't remember any insects, for what I played of it.
Does Condemned have insects? I'm playing through it right now but haven't seen any so far.ASK_Story
just birds, bums, serial killers and demons

Does Haunting Ground have insects in it? I looked it up and I like what I saw/read so far.JerseyJ2007
No insects. Just perverts.
I really like this game. You get to explore a creepy old mansion while being chased by its crazy residents. It's the kind of game that gets your blood pumping from anticipation of the horror to come. You can never be sure when the next pervert is going to show up or when it is safe to leave your hiding place. Using the dog is also an interesting game mechanic, though I never could get him to 100% listen to my commands. [My only complaint is that the main character doesn't have any decent clothes -- I really wish I could have unlocked just a simple pair of jeans and a T-shirt for her.]
If you find that you like the chase/hide kind of horror games, you might also consider Siren. Though I must warn you that Siren is slower paced than HG and relies on a lot of trial and error. It is a stealth horror game so if you absolutely hate Metal Gear and Splinter Cell type games, you will definitely not like Siren. On the other hand, if you like those kinds of games, then you'll probably find something to like in Siren. [Also, when you play Siren for the 1st time it is best to rush through the 1st stage as fast as you can -- the 2ndstage is really the tutorial stage and it makes the game easier if you ignore the 1st stage as much as possible and spend extra time on the 2nd stage in the beginning. The game is non-linear and you can go back later in the game and replay the 1st stage when you understand the game mechanics better.]
