in your party you just use a phoenix down. Why dont they just use phoenix downs when a king or something dies, a main character. It makes no sense to me, and it annoys me.

Like is FF1 I think it is, Mary or w/e her name is loses her mother and I was just yelled at the game, "USE A PHOENIX DOWN!!! YOU STUPID GIRL!!"

My best assumption is that when a character "dies" in battle they are only just knocked out. and the phoenix down revives them from KO. Can anybody remember the item description from a phoenix down in and FF game? Does it say "Revive from KO"? I have a vague recollection that it does.

Are you the kind of guy who plays wow saying on vent "WHY DIDNT SHE DROP HER HAT' I SEE IT ON HER!!"?

It's a game. They have to do stuff to make it work. They can't just forget about death and put all the focus on phoenix down. That would be terrible. Why do you care on such a small aspect of the game? Were you outraged to see that people need licence points to wear stuff in FFXII? I wasn't because it changes nothing to my gaming experience.

No im not that kinda guy, And yea I see what your saying about FFXII and that license points makes more sense to me though. But I dont really care so much, as it just struck me with questions when I realized that when playing Crisis Core. But Private_Vegas brings a good point as to what the definition is according to the game.

Good to hear it doesn't annoy you too much. Try not to care about those things that don't make sense in video games because there's a lot of it. I used to think about those elements and try to make them make sense to help my game immersion but there was often no answer.

Technically, when a character loses all of his hp in the ff games, he's just "KO'd". Meaning knocked unconscious, but not dead. Think of the phoenix down more as a magical smelling salt that helps a character quickly regain consciousness.

no you got it all wrong, in older ff games character die in battle, but its not what square really wanted you to think, really they just get K'O'. so when all characters get knocked out they die because there is no why to protect them, the phoenix down is just to wake them up from being unconsious, but in later ff game the game actually says your knocked out, in manual and ingame.

I always assumed they were just out cold or out of energy to fight, or seriously injured, etc.
