How come Super Famicom got the red, blue, green and yellow buttons while..

SNES got gray and purple buttons? They made the controller less colorful...you ever played DKC3? In those Banana Bird caves, the crystals are the same colors of the corresponding buttons on the Super Famicom controller.

It's been bothering for a while now. Actually, the PAL version has colored buttons too. To my knowledge only the north american version had the grey/purple buttons.
