So today I went to Gamestop and got Earth Defense Force 2017 used. I knew I wouldn't find it new, so it didn't bother me. Still, the game came without a case and a manual, and when I asked about it, a couple of the employees were being jerks about it, saying I wasn't going to play the case, I was going to play the game. I suppose I could've found that stuff online, still sometimes I just want to go to a store and pick up whatever it is I want. Anyway, any opinions? Ocassionally I bought a couple of used games that looked like crap too...

I don't do it often. I like to have a case and manual with my games. And buying used games only supports the retailer so I usually try to avoid buying used games.

They are hurting the gaming industry.

I cant say i blame the person buying used games since they are just trying to save some money, but that doesnt change how its only creating a cyclical problem.

I only buy used games if I can't find them new, especially since EB games/Gamestop make such a raping on them.

There was a local video game store that gave me 30$ tax-free CASH trade in for Assassin's Creed as opposed to the 20$ credits at my EB games when I went to both places to check, So I now buy used games and trade in at that store. (They had Unreal Tournament 3 PS3 for 45$)

I personally prefer new games over used. When i'm looking for an older game like for my n64 I have to buy them used, or if its from a friend I'll buy it used, save a few extra bucks. I once bought a used game from EB, and I foolishly didnt look at the disk before hand, and when i got home, the entire with was coverd in scracthes, so i had to take it back, Wast of time >_>. Anyways, if you wanna buy used games, then go for it, but always check the disks.

For me it just depends on the condition of the used games. If it looks like it been through a battle of some sort I tend to just not bother with it. I only get it if it contains a manual and a case. It doesn't have to be in good condition, normal would be fine to. Usually I just go for the new one, but I have to get it used when it comes to those rare games that I want really bad.

that happened with me today.
i picked up a used game but the case was FILTHY. it was ripped and had stickers over it and it was all grimy and nasty. the manual was also ripped and wrinkled and grimy as well.
i asked the guy if he could swap cases for me and he said "youre playing the disc not the case." ...WELL NO DUH!!
i like to have clean and neat game cases so they can be displayed nicely

I always check used games before I buy a new one. I usually check Amazon. They always have used products from regular sellers based on their website. Nothing wrong with used games IMO>

i dont understand how someone would lose a game and a case. i personally keep all my games neat & orderly and they're always in great condition. i dont see how ppl can get their cases ripped and broken and stuff.

and if the previous owner kept the case etc in good condition it grinds my gears that stores like EB Games throw out cases to make more room, i really hate that store.

I like them as long as they come complete with box and manual, I don't buy the game if I know it doesn't have one or the other. But I think's it's usually a good deal to get a game cheaper than a new copy, what's not to love?

Used games are like a double edge sword. On one side I don't really support used games since the developers don't get any compensation from them. This isn't good for the small name games out there that are really awesome (Zack and Wiki, Okami, Beyond Good and Evil) and depend on the success of their games to determine whether or not they will have sequels.

On the other hand if I walk into an EB or Gamestop and see a used game that is in good condition I will buy it. I always ask to see the disc before I purchase it just because I know that EB takes about anything.

i personally don't really like buying used games, it just can be really irritating when you find scratches and dirt all over the game case, and I think the manual is very important to a game. One time, I bought a second hand MGS3, and the manual was all torn, which annoyed me because the manuals to the MGS games are normally excellent.

Charging me $45 for a used copy of SSBM in 2005. Still charging $45 in 2008. The game has been out for 6 years and a few months. All the money goes to EB.

When given the option of buying new or used, I always go for new because that supports developers so they can make more games.

Yeah...sometimes I wonder how these employees get hired, instead of apologizing or just saying that the game came in incomplete, what gives them the right to make such a smartass comment to a customer?

I buy almost every game used, because a lack of money, but the Case,Manual and Disc must bee in a good shape. In case of the Disc I even pay the 4 Bucks to "clean" them if I must and the game wasn´t too expensive.I got a perfect looking CoD4 for 38Bucks around 5 Weeks ago.I couldn´t complain.

I almost always buy used games. They are cheap and decent enough to play. Almost everytime I buy one I get the case but sometimes you don't get the manual. And all stores that sell used games have a return policy if it dosent work. You do have to watch for that though because some places will give you 30 days while others only give you 7 days. It takes me longer than a week to play a whole game through.

I usually buy used games just because I'm not one to get a game just right after it come out... plus, used games are cheaper which is convinient because I don't have much $$$. They usually work for me.

I buy new whenever I can (and choose not to use Steam if the game is on there), not because it supports the developers, but because I just prefer new stuff--looks nicer and I know there's nothing wrong. But if I can't find a game I want new, or if a new one is way too expensive due to supply and demand, I'll buy used. MGS: Twin Snakes, RE:0, ICO, the GBC Zeldas, the GC Zelda discs with OoT... all of those I bought used. Fortunately, I haven't had one problem with a used game yet. Some of those did come without manuals, though. But these days, it's the rare game that you can't figure out without the manual. I still prefer to have the manual, but if the previous said conditions are met, I don't mind going without the manual.

I buy used games most of the time. They come with thirty day warranties so if I get bored of it before that I just return it and buy another game.

I buy used games all the time and have never had a single problem with a game that I bought used at EB. Besides they have a 2 week return policy on used games if it turns it it dosnt work its no problem getting a refund or a swap. I buy a lot of new titles too, but I like to pick up older games here and there to fatten my collection some and used is just the way to go due to actual availability of the game and saving money.

Well, ppl do tend to get tired of their games a little too soon. I love it when I can get a game I missed for a low price. As long as the game is in good enough condition, of course.

I buy used games every so often. They are a bit cheaper, and you can find some really great used games that would be harder to find new without a higher price.
