I was thinking about picking up the GOTY edition for $40, but I could as easily get the vanilla for ~$20. I know that General Knoxx DLC increases the level cap which may deserve a pick up, but what about the rest? I've heard bad things about Max Moxxie mixed for the other two. Do they warrant the extra $20?

Only Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot is what I would call sub-par. The addition of a horde-style mode is nice, but progression is difficult because there's no checkpoints, so it's pretty unforgiving and time consuming (in a bad way.) The really bad part is that it includes the bank for storing a lot more weapons, so no Moxxi, no bank.

Everything else, however, especially Secret Armory is definitely worth it. Zombie Island is awesome, Secret Armory is amazing (and quite funny to boot), and Claptrap's New Revolution is great.

I'd say, unless you REALLY want that bank, I would personally avoid Mad Moxxi. Secret Armory is the best add-on hands down, and will give you the most replayability, but Zombie Island and New Revolution are well worth a purchase.

In my opinion:
Zombie Island: 8.5/10
Mad Moxxi: 5/10
Secret Armory: 11/10 (It's that good)
New Revolution: 8.5/10

Other than Mad Moxxy, they're all better than the main story's game.

If you plan on getting these individually, do NOT get Max Moxxie, or whatever the second dlc is called. About the only redeeming feature that it offers is a way to store your items. Other than that it's basically several arenas put together where you fight waves and waves of enemies. I couldn't even bring myself to finish one of them because you have to fight through 25 waves of enemies: Five rounds with five waves each. This normally isn't a big issue to me if the combat is good, but depending on your level, enemies can become too much of a damage sponge to make this enjoyable and things tend to drag on. I'll give them some credit for trying to spice things up with a randomizer each wave that changes certain properties, but it doesn't stop this dlc from being extremely mediocre. Perhaps someone that actually finished might offer up a better opinion, but it just wasn't for me.

I can't comment too much on the rest, but the first dlc the Halloween one is fine if you aren't sick of shooting zombies from other games. I personally like the Halloween theme, and the pack likes to poke fun at some scary movie cliches. I'm currently going through General Knoxx and it does seem to be the best of the bunch so far, though I'm honestly getting a little burned out on the game. You already know what it has, so if you have to grab only one, General Knoxx is the one.

The Borderlands DLC is some of my favorite DLC this gen. All of them are great (except for Mad Moxxy, which is only okay)

^Trust me. You're right. I've got all the achievements on my X360 version of Borderlands, and Moxxi is far too unforgiving. It takes more than 2 hours to finish one of the extended tournaments, and I only did it by having a low level co-op dummy host the match while I blew through the waves with my high-level character.

Pretty much this. Also, Borderlands in general pokes fun at many movies. I find it very funny. But if you're definitely getting the game, pick up Knoxx for sure. You get the level cap raised to 69, and a ton of missions to go through.

I really enjoyed The Zombie Island of Dr.Ned. I am in the middle of General Knoxx which is good, but is frustrating at the lack of fast travel to locations, Claptrap's Robolution is pretty good as well. As others have said - Mad Moxxi is not so great. TBH, I find it a little tedious.

General Knoxx is amazing, get that. Zombies is good, The Underdome is good for the bank and the occaisonal blast. Ive boughtClaptraps RR but not played it yet.

Alright, thanks for your opinions! I'll probably just save up and pick up the GOTY edition if the DLC really are that good.
