How have demos and betas helped or hindered your gaming purchases?

The demo for Killzone 2 really sold me on buying and loving Killzone 2 and I'm glad I did.

I remember the demo for Kingdoms of Amalur was AWFUL and it took a bunch of reviews and a price drop for me to give the game a shot (which I ended up absolutely loving) they totally should have picked a different vertical slice for the demo.

The beta for the Crew didn't really sell me on the game but I ended up buying day one because the concept behind the game really intrigued me. However, I've reached the part of the game few do where it is an absolute blast, but it's a crying shame the game doesn't sell itself well earlier.

The beta for Star Wars Battlefront has been tons of fun and it's sold me on purchasing it because I really enjoy Sci-Fi shooters (and I love Star Wars).

So what about you? What betas/demos have helped or hindered your game purchasing decisions? Do you still agree with your initial post-beta/demo thoughts or did the demo/beta over/under sell the game?

I´ve had such great disappointments for purchasing games without a Beta/Demo ( The Order, Destiny just to mention ) that now I´m skeptical about purchasing a game without one while the contrary happens when I can try the game previously, normally I end up purchasing it.

To be honest they haven't had any real impact on my purchasing decisions. For the most part I already know what I'll buy very early on and in franchises that I'm already enjoying I'm pretty much already committed to purchasing any new games that they may make for it. A lot of the time I'll just skip most betas and/or demos because I've already made up my mind to buy the game plus I'm busy playing games I already have.

For me its been 50/50. I had plans to buy Rainbow Six Siege but after playing the beta I realized I didn't really like it. On the other hand I was thinking of passing on Battlefront but after playing that beta I found myself really enjoying it and plan on buying it now!
