How much does it really matter to you. Would you enjoy just playing through a game once and do everything and perhaps do some multiplayer or play the singleplayer several times over? I like playing games over again especially if it's games with choices like Mass Effect or Dragon Age

Most of the time I would rather play through a game once and then move on. I'm at a point in my life where I don't have 100 hours to spend on a video game, but I did play Mass Effect twice to experience the dialogue of different teammates. Like you said, if there are a plethora of choices, then I'll go another run because it adds to the story. A second run of Mass Effect 1 with diametrically opposed choices (i.e. male/female + renegade/paragon + kill everything/don't kill everything) was almost like a different game. On rare occasions I'll also play through a second time on a higher difficulty level if I really enjoyed the game, like I did with Alan Wake. But to just play a game three times because the game designers are so self-delusional that they think their game is worth playing three times to get all the achievements--*cough* Infinite Undiscovery *cough*--I consider that a complete waste of time.

plays a big role in whether I'm going to buy a game full price or wait/buy it used for cheap. I'd say yeah.... it's pretty important.

Hmm, I don't know. It depends on what I'm expecting, I guess. I've played through many games once, but if there's a lot to explore and experience in that one playthrough, then I'm fine. I only played through the original Bioshock once, but it was absolutely amazing. But replayability is always nice. Strangely, the game I replayed the most, Metro 2033, actually wasn't really a game to be replayed very often. And yet I did. I think I replayed that game 11 times or something. I don't know why...

Ultra important. The lack of replayability equates to watching a movie. The only exception is point and click adventure games.

My favorite games are RPGs so for me it's very important. And i would much rather play single player than multiplayer.

I have less time to play games these days, so replayability is not that important for me. Most games I will play once and move on.

Depends on the game. games like Zelda or more traditional RPGs, I prefer more content than replayability simply because they tend to be same-y each time you play it. Other games are replayable due to short length and New Game+. It all just comes down to the game in the end.

Replayability is nice to have through game design or extra features. But all I need to replay a game is have it be a great experience. I don't listen to a song I really like once and never bother again, I don't watch a movie I really enjoy and never bother to see it again. If something is great I will want to experience it again and again.

Depends heavily on the game, something story focused I find it less required such as 'The Last of Us' but on an RPG/FPS I find it fairly essential unless the experience is truly mind blowing.

I like replayability as long as its not that forced, perfectionist, achievement/trophy farm that games now days try to pass off as "replayability." There's no fun in that.

Not much. I have a really busy life with work and college, I barely have time to play games. Hell I only play from 1-3 hours a week. I like to complete games and move on, to be honest.

Once, why play something that I know exactly whats going to happen all over again? Maybe years later I replay some games. And why would you when there are so many great games out there?

The last game I felt compelled to play again was ninja gaiden on xbox for the better weapons.

If a game has high replay value, I will gladly spend the 60 on it. I like games over the 50 hour mark. Most rpg's of course. Mass effect.... Fallout.

FPS games, I really don't care about replay value because I never play them more than once which is why I usually buy them used or wait till they drop down in price.

Replay value is a big deciding factor for me in choosing what games to play.

It doesn't have to have high replayability for me to enjoy it, but it's definitely a factor in deciding whether or not to buy a game as opposed to renting it.

It doesn't factor at all into whether or not I buy a game. If a game looks good I want to play it regardless of how short it may be. It does obviously affect whether or not I'll replay a game though. I like to play games more than once.

I can't really say I've ever played a game where I thought that it was too short and hence degraded my impression of the game. (not counting military FPS's of course)

It's not really all that important to me because there's so many games that I want to play these days that I usually don't have the time to play through many of my games multiple times.

When I was younger, replayability was more important. Nowadays, it just doesn't matter as much, because I don't have as much free time and there are too many games I want to play.

I prefer to play a game once, and then possibly online if there is a multiplayer mode. I'm not a huge fan of re-treading old ground and playing the same game twice when there are so many great games out there to play!

If the game has multiple paths depending on the choices you make then I would say replay value is vital, but if it's generally linear then no.

To me, "replayability" means something to do post game- new game plus, challenge modes, multiplayer and so on- rather than playing the campaign from scratch over and over again.

Mercenaries 2, Batman: Arkham City and TMNT: Out of the Shadows are a few of the games this generation that I've gotten the most replay value out of.

I have to laugh at this question not because it's a bad one, but, because replayability is a MUST when I purchase games new or at/near their full price.

however, I must say that for me "replayability" isn't simply related to alternate choices and new gameplay in games like tes/fallout. great games that have good length of content also become acceptable for me. fps games like halo or gears, etc. are games that have such great and "lengthy" single player content that I have replayed them all countless times.

however, I will NOT buy great games with short length at full price. period.

I must add: that multiplayer and xtra modes/challenges DO NOT equal replayability.

I'd like to say it does but the fact is i don't have anytime to play anymore, the odd hour here and there, and the actual fact once i complete the game i'm pretty bored with it any, esp the longer games, i mean ac4 has a bit of replay-ability and i was all for doing the extras but once i finished the game i got bored and put it away.

I'm defiantly a one time player, but i must admit i've played a few twice but after a year or so once i forget most of it so it doesn't effect me as much, but i buy games for the quality not the quantity

I think it's is everything. Replay-ability speaks to the quality and depth to a game. Plus my second playthrough in any games are usually achievement focused.

I don't care about replayability. There are very few games that I went back to right after I beat it, Bastion being one of them. If the game is good enough I'll play it way later on down the road.

First and top priority when it comes to my purchases. Still depends on the game (and genre) though. Sometimes, there are games that you just want to experience again because they're really good. Doesn't matter if they're strictly linear or not.

I liken replay-ablity to how enjoyable the game is. If the game was fun and didn't contain much or any drudgery, boring tedium, hours long walks from A to B (e.g. Skyrim) and other crap, then REPLAY-ABILITY is good. You can enjoy that game again and again--you get more fun and enjoyment for your money; more value without having to buy more and more games.

Games with virtually unlimited replay-ability and fun are games like the NHL series, Pro Evolution Soccer series, FIFA series, Top Spin 4, Virtua Tennis 4, Forza Horizon, Forza MotorSport 4, ect.

I love how some games offer you the ability to replay chapters of the game if you choose, e.g., Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, ect.

The NHL series, e.g., NHL 14 offer unlimited replay-ability. You can play for 30 minutes or for hours straight. There are so many different modes and options and teams to choose from (Be A Legend Mode, Season Mode, position lock, GM Mode, on-line, Battle For the Cup mode, Playoff Mode) that give you a different experience. You can customize the game with all the sliders and three different mode.

I can play the Saints Row games over and over and over and be perfectly happy in addition to games in the Mass Effect series (minus the scavenging), Splinter Cell series, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, inFAMOUS, Left 4 Dead/Left 4 Dead 2, along with sports and racing games.

I would love to replay Far Cry 3, but the crafting system with all the hunting is the worst, the long and serpentine walks from A to B (even with fast travel) prevents me. I don't have time for that. Otherwise it's a great game.

I will replay a number of games but there are a number of games I will never touch again but I will keep them.

The main game type that I do not find the have much re-playability are death match type of games.

Well I am taking either a long break of 2-3 years of not buying anymore games or never buying anymore games at all due to my 70+ games of backlog that I am currently working through. So as soon as I get done with the games I just wanted to play once and delete from my steam account (Deus Ex, Stalker series, KOTOR 2, Amnesia TDD, Vampire Bloodlines, System Shock 2; I got them all and many more pretty cheap on the steam sales of course), THEN I will devote much of my time replaying my favorites (Oblivion, Skyrim, HL2, Bioshock, FEAR, Last of Us, and many many more). I spent thousands of dollars on new PC specs, replacement PS3s, controllers, gaming laptops, and games over my 16 years of gaming (since 1998) and I figure as I finish my college business degree this May, I will not buy anymore games but just replay my favorite ones over and over again. It also helps my decision to quit video game spending now that creativity has been declining and several influential key gaming studios have gone out of business (Irrational games? Wow!).

So overall, replay value is the MOST important aspect of video gaming in my personal opinion.

I'm not too worried about it I guess. If the single player was fun then maybe I'll play it again sooner than other games. Otherwise I get replayability from multiplayer. I rarely try to 100% games so I usually have something to go back to.

replayability is kinda like the whole reason i buy a game, yet another reason i get so pissed when a games sp gets dwarfed due to its online mode leaching off it, cause the sp is the only reason i spend my money on it, therefor it should have replayability, and when its 2 hours long or less theirs little if any replayability to be found. i don't buy a game just to beat it, i buy it to play when i'm bored, bottomline- ALL games should have replay value, or at least a new game plus mode, or SOMETHING.

San Andreas was a brilliant game to replay time and time again. Mass Effect is another game that is good to play, however not to many times. The Elder Scroll games are always a nice game to go back to.

Re-playability is a major factor for most people. You wouldn't want to waste money on a game that you'd only play once or twice.

For me it depends heavily on the game, if it's an RPG it's very important with choices and different experiences with different builds and races etc. An action/adventure game where I follow a character through a laid out story, I don't mind if it's one experience and that's all.

Yep, only games i do replay are strategy like CKII, EUIV, Civ1-5 and building games like SimCity

i dont see a point to replaying any other game, no game is that great, which is also why i take my time playing it the first time, if i can avoid the main story mission i will until i have explored the map or done enough of the side missions and collectibles

Other than that, all that matters to me is 1 play 1 game almost like a sniper :D one hit one kill, no reason to waste time or bullets on another run.

How much does it really matter to you. Would you enjoy just playing through a game once and do everything and perhaps do some multiplayer or play the singleplayer several times over? I like playing games over again especially if it's games with choices like Mass Effect or Dragon Age

Doesnt matter at all

I rarely replay a game after i am done with the main mission, there is rarely a point to much of the extra stuff.

Even RPG games?

Yep, only games i do replay are strategy like CKII, EUIV, Civ1-5 and building games like SimCity

i dont see a point to replaying any other game, no game is that great, which is also why i take my time playing it the first time, if i can avoid the main story mission i will until i have explored the map or done enough of the side missions and collectibles

Other than that, all that matters to me is 1 play 1 game almost like a sniper :D one hit one kill, no reason to waste time or bullets on another run.

i guess we are different then :P

Marginally. I appreciate when a title has the appeal of another go through. But I don't expect it. These days. There are games I feel are one and dones, and I'd be quite content with that single experience. I'll bring up UC2. Each time through that game diminishes the spectacle of the initial experience. I was in awe and completely enthralled within the first few moments. Now it's stacked among the sentimental favorites that are just there to relive the memories. Having recently finished MGR:R, I can say that I will be playing that game for years to come. The story was, for me, mediocre. The depth in the gameplay and exciting pace vaults it to my top 5 titles. The Lightning Bolt Action indeed.

I don't really care to play games over again.
