Other than being a square game? I was just curious as to why it got rereleased on the ps1 with the FF series. me and a buddy were talking about it and didn't know. figured someone on here probably would.

That was just a bonus game for the lack of FFIII japan. It's not related.
The story/chartacters/etc aren't related, but things like the ATB and certain items (like Tonic - I think it was in FF6), and probably weapons (Masamune?) are related.
Final Fantasy Chronicles is a pun. Chronicles are historical accounts of events in a chronological order, yet the PS1 version of FFIV came out in the US after V and VI. Furthermore, Chrono Trigger (notice a similar root word?) is a game all about time travel, changing the past, and creating a new future.
I always thought of Chrono Trigger as a Final Fantasy spin off. The active time battle system is not that much different than Final Fantasy 2 or 3, it's just you can use combo attacks and fight on the dungeon screen insted of being warped, and the characters move around, otherwise it's the same turn-based combat with the same experience building stat building, hp and mp resourcing..
Thanks for the input guys. i know most of the final fantasy's dont really tie together thay have unique stories and different characters, so i didnt see how chrono trigger could tie in with the series.
