Besides the cliffhanger at the end, not bad.

Having never played Mafia 1, my time with Mafia 2 was aggravating. The story sounded appealing to me, but I lost interest in it when there's so much driving around to do and some of the missions became an irritating endeavor, like driving to several places in a time limit to have people deliver money to you when it can get screwed up by hitting another car and forcing the police to chase you around. I also wasn't a fan of the shooting as much either.

Never played Mafia 1 so I can't tell you. Mafia 2 was a pretty good game, though.

I never played Mafia I as there was no console version but Mafia II rates as one of my favorite games. The story was good, the characters were interesting and well acted and I loved driving those old cars around that beautiful city. I was a bit disappointed with the not-so-open world and the somewhat linear story but those issues didn't spoil the game for me like they did in L.A. Noire. Mafia II has some really great gun battles, so if you like shooters you will probably enjoy it.

It's alright but having played the original Mafia back when it came out, Mafia 2 is weak.

Back then Mafia was amazing, everything about it was amazing.

Mafia 2, looks good, plays good...there're just no freedom, nothing to do in the world apart from the story, it's very easy and short.

But it's worth it

I don't really understand your question.. are you asking how Mafia 2 is or how it can be seen as a sequel to the first game?

Just as someone else has said earlier, besides some scenes at the end, it cannot be percieved as much of a sequel. The game is great and well worth it!

Never played Mafia 1, but I found the gameplay in Mafia 2 not to be anything to write home about. The story was pretty good. The cliffhanger at the end, as a couple mentioned, makes you want to grumble. I really had little desire or need to use weapon shops, clothing stores, side missions (as few as they were), and even upgrade vehicles. There was very little need to use the money you collected in the game and that was disappointing. Weapon shop? Pffft, I can collect every possible weapon from the warm, dead hands of Vito's victims.

There's a 2 after Mafia.

j/k,j/k :P. I found it to be similar enough in structure, gameplayand atmosphere to be considered and continuation of the series. Cool game.

Gameplay-wise, it's practically the same game. The first game had a big city with nothing to do also. They both clock in at about 12 hours. Story-wise, it's a similar kind of story throughout except Mafia 2 ends on a terrible cliffhanger where Mafia 1 did not. As for a sequel, the events in Mafia 1 take place before and during the story of Mafia 2, some things being a direct result of the story in Mafia 1.

I loved mafia 2 personally, the story was well done, and the gunplay was really solid. Let me tell you that it is not an open world game, it is a linear game made to seem open.

I might see if I can track down a copy, assuming that the Xbox disc will play on an Xbox 360. When you say it was lousy, do you mean that the game was lousy or the Xbox version was lousy compared to the PC version?

Mafia 2 is horrible compared to Mafia 1. It had potential. But 2k rushed out the game. And anything that didn't make it is DLC. Hell they even took vehicles out of the game and is chargeing for them. What a joke.

Mafia 1 is hands down one of my favorite games.

And if you ment story wise. They arnt really connected at all.

Why not get the PC version. Its dirt cheap, works on basically any rig., beautiful 'till this day, with a wonderful story superior to that of Mafia 2.

Ookay i just finished the game like 1 week ago Mafia 2... so let me tell you how Mafia 2 is a sequal. (i really got into the game after installed it off steam and finished it in 2 days it was awesom story, too bad you drove around most the game) but gun fights when they did happen were alot of fun.

******************BIG SPOILER********************************

The main character from Mafia 1 is actually found at end to be under witness protection, and he located in the town were Mafia 2 takes up most of the game. At end of Mafia 1 you fastword couple decades in Mafia 1 and at end you see the main character(as a old man) being found by the Mafia and killed by two guys. The two guys that assasinated him are actually the main character and his best friend in Mafia 2.

Closer to the end of the game You get the job to kill this "Snitch" of FBI because you are in high dept and you need money. And it be same exact scene expect with updated graphics. I think it kinda cool how they tied both the games i am really interested to know what they do in Mafia 3.

Mafia 2 is an excellent game, but would have been perfect if there were side missions!

The old man you kill in one of the last missions in Mafia 2 is infact the protagonist from Mafia 1.
