I am very happy when the game takes about 20-30 hours to complete. Because then I don't feel like I wasted too much time playing and it doesn't get old. Like some games that last 50+ hours.... But if it's a game like Oblvion than by all means I can just play it and play it forever. But it seems like open end sandbox type games don't seem like they get old, just cause there is so many different things to do.

I would like if most games lasted for about 20 to 30 hours, and not 5 hours.

Around 12 to 15 hours, but I'll still play a game that's over 30 hours. It's rare when I don't finish a game because it's too long.

A game that lasts over 20 hours is fine. Anything over 50 hours is exceptional.

I like my games like I like my women...8 and up.

ok that was a joke but some games are fine by me if they don't last long as long as they provide entertainment and don't get boring before it's over.

i like my women hot and sexy... but as for video games, i like a game i can finish in a short amount of time. i don't want to sit there for weeks playing a game. cod 4 comes to mind as a game that i liked. so yeah, about 10-20 hours gameplay is enough for me.

As long as it can without becoming tedious or repetitive. Portal was long enough at 3-4 hours. Max Payne 2 was long enough at 6 hours. Kameo was long enough at 10 hours.

If games are artificially padded to reach a certain length the experience suffers as a result. Ala, Fahrenheit.

If it is a good game then it never ends due to high replay value. For each time you play thru the game though, I would say at least 40 hours.

For me:

Action Adventure: 12 hours

FPS: 9 hours

RPG: 30 hours

Sandbox: 50 hours

For me it has to do with the range of things to do, or the tradition. So if I sat down with and RPG and after 10 hours was told "Game Over" I'd be a bit miffed. But after 8 hours with and FPS I've pretty much had enough.

i think 24 hours. that is a good amount of time to play a good game instead of a game that can be beaten in like 2 days. then there is multiplayer that needs to be good.

The longer the better. I'm paying about 60 dollars for a game and I sure don't want a 6 -8 hour game.

When I find out a game will be just a few hours ( 10-12), I refuse to buy it.

I've never rushed through a game just to brag about how long it took me to complete it either.

I'll play a game on a higher difficulty level if one is provided, just to extend the time I spend playing it.

And of course for the added challenge.

A good example:

As nice as Heavy Rain is forcasted to be....it's reported to be only 10-12 hours long. I will not be buying it.

15 hours minimum if it's single player only, if it has decent online multiplayer mode (not crap ones which you'll never play) then I can accept 8 hours. But with these games online is usually more important.

Hmm...I would say between 15 - 50 hours.

FPS would be 15 hours

RPG Would be 25 or so

Sandbox games would be 50 hours if you stick to the main storyline, even longer if you do side quests and additional options.

Adventure games would be around 30 hours.

Since everybody uses this analogy, I also like it like my women. I like them to last.

As long as there's variety, the longer the better. Just no tedious levelling up mechanics, please.

I'd prefer my games to be 20-40 hours. Longer than that is alright, as long as I'm having fun. I especially don't like short games.

At least 20-30 hours (any genre). But actually it's the days I count. I want my games to last at least 15 days. So if I know the game is short, I only play it at maximum of 1 hour a day or like this in some games:

Shadow of the Colossus - 1 colossus a day

God of War games - 2 save points a day

GTA games - 3 missions a day

Hitman series - 1 mission a day

I feel robbed if I beat a game in less than 20 hours. IMO, the price of the game should be based on how short or long it is, except for some great games like MGS series.

Personally if the game is something I'm really into (rpg) then I'd want it to be 50 hrs+. Sometimes the story is so good, you just don't want it to ever end.

I usually spend 70+ hrs on an rpg.
