@Kevlar101:
Yes, I'd agree with that.
Looking back at Call Of Duty 3, it introduced full vehicle support, classes (medic, support), sprint, mines, a completely new engine. It also brought about the precursor to Killstreaks. Over the course of a match you could rank up your class to level 3 where you could have extra equipment or drop down mortar strikes and such. Keep in mind this game was made in under a year.
With World At War they introduced Nazi Zombies, Co-op campaign, not much new here but a great entry and one of my favourites. They had to make changes to this during development due to COD4's success.
Black Ops brought with it Combat Training against bots, theater mode, custom emblems, Wager matches (Gun Game, Sharpshooter, Sticks and Stones, One in the Chamber), COD points for unlocks, Contracts, Dead Ops Arcade and a completely new setting in Vietnam. Oh and you could have two people play online on the same console in splitscreen, a first for the series.
Black Ops 2 brought Customizable loadouts in the campaign, branching story choices, StrikeForce missions, New setting with 2025, League Play, Customizable Zombies matches and new modes such as Grief, 3 Team Deathmatch, Pick 10 Create a class system (which I'd argue is the biggest addition to multiplayer since the introduction of the original Create a class in COD4), CODcasting, Scorestreak system and more.
I always look forward to what Treyarch does with their COD titles. Great to know that Treyarch will now get a 3 year development cycle moving forward, should be great.
