How many gamers here would quit gaming if Project Natal was used?

I would. Its the most pathetic thing and I don't think it will work properly in games. I think for it to work, it would need time past our lieftimes for it to get adjusted well.

Now, I am not talking only to X-Box 360 users. I am also refering the same comments to PS3 owners, who are getting a motion sensing thingy too. ( I know the Wii already has the motion sensing controls and stuff, and only now and again uses the controllers)

Okay, company line is probably that they want more of the gerneral population to get into gaming. Where does that leave us hardcore gamers? I think this whole idea sucks! Opinions?

Not me.

First, because the traditional controller will not be replaced anytime soon, nor will the strong "hardcore" market disappear.

Secondly, because, just like the WiiMote, Natal may bring some great games to the industry.

Why quit when you still have two other great consoles as well as the PC.

Well, they say that you'll use props for some games. Wouldn't Halo: Reach be awesome if you stood there actually pointing a plasma rifle at grunts? Wouldn't any FPS (or sword-wielding game, or any game for that matter) be cooler if you actually felt like it was true first person? Inserting you into the game (not like "your in the movies".. that was terrible)? I think it will either be one of the greatest successes in gaming, or, perhaps, the greatest failure. Only time will tell.

I like innovation and the wii has made some innovative games and it's also made a lot of crap games too.I'm with you and not with you at the same time.I think there will be a few good games for it and then a bunch of crap games. The only thing is the crap games or they are to me any ways seem to sell really good. Now that does scare me, why because if they are making way more money selling games that please the masses then you can bet you'll see a decline in hard core titles.Thats the only down side.

If there is a steep decline, then yes I won't be spending the money on games like I do now.Still innovation is good and this regardless of how will push gaming forward in some way.

My hats off for an attempt at innovation. Its a risky move overall and by all means doesnt gaurantee profits, where iterations of the old usually does. The first go at it may be decent, but improvment on voice command, motion interaction can only lead to exactly that a more involved/immersive game. I am a little skepetical on a good transtion for fps. Ya a gun peripheral would be sweet, but when it comes down to it, i remember duck hunt for NES and for max score holding the thing 1 inch from the screen...

Hey, people thought the Wii would crash and burn, too. Said that it would take away any hardcore games. I do believe Mad World and No More Heroes dispelled that theory. With any luck, Natal won't suck. With lots of luck, we'll have the most immersive games ever.

Even if they do start using it, they arent going to completely phase out controllers >.>

It will be like the Wii and have games built around the system most likely.

Just welcome the Natal and hope it brings us one step closer to fully immersive virtual reality games =o

Yeah, they could never phase out controllers... not so soon, anyways. And I wouldn't worry about hardcore games dissapearing. As long as the big gaming companies, those behind Gears of War, etc., like Bungie, Epic Games, etc. exist, our hardcore games will live on. Do you really expect Epic Games, creators of one of the goriest games on the 360, to start making games like "Kirby Goes to Hyrule to Talk to Mario and Luigi Who Are on Vacation to Tell Them that Princess Peach is Morbidly Obese"? (I'm rather proud of that title)

I bought a Wii for my GF and mother, most gamers I know are not going to drop that kind of money on a system with a weak library. Just my opinion and I am not flaming the Wii, but it is suited for a certain demographic that does not meet the expectactions of most of the gamers I am around. Its success lies in accessability and niche categories (like Wii fit) and it excels at both of them.

Now if done right, Natal could be awesome, or it could suck. Either way, as long as I have a controller (or don't have to move too much) Im good, I don't care to have an "active" experience :)

I understand that MS, Nintendo & Sony want everyone to use their new motion controllers (well the Wii's isn't new), but I doubt they'll "force" motion control on us. Most games will still be able to use the standard controller, IMO. If not, they are making a terrible business decision. I for one could care less, motion control is just a new sales tool/gadget as far as I'm concerned. But if it makes games more fun or accessible for gamers and introduces more to gaming, good for them.

I'm hoping that they won't overload us with Natal. I would stop buying new 360 games if they all (or most) required Natal, no other choice. As long as we can use our controllers, I'm going to be happy.

Personally I'm extremely interested in seeing what developers might be able to do with Natal so I'm really looking forward to it coming out. I thought the interactivity with the Milo character Peter Molyneux showed off looked extremely promising.

If it's implemented properly, it will be brilliant. What I also feel is under-rated, is the voice recognition. Halo Reach. Hasn't been confirmed as Natal, but if it was - maybe it would just be your voice rather than you controlling? Spartan 17, go over there, Spartan 28 suppressing fire over there. That sorta thing. And it would get every Halo fan (me included) picking up Natal.

It should be used mostly though with a normal controller. I can think of some exceptions, like Dodgeball and stuff but for every game, it could be implemented well but only using a controller too.

If it become as mandatory as the Wii's motion controls, I would stop buying 360 products. Same goes for the PS3s wand. This is the first generation I have stopped buying Nintendo products. The Wii has an awesome line up of games that I'm interested in, but I hate motion controls, & I'm not fond of the Virtual Controller also (I liked the Gamecube controller, but only select Wii games allow it). Because of it's success, I don't think Nintendo will change next gen either, so I'll be missing out on more great titles. I miss Zelda. Though I've owned two DSs, I don't like the dual screens, though I don't mind the touch screen, as it does have some innovative uses without sacrificing performance. I still had more fun in the GBC, GBA days though.

While Natal claims it's advanced, yada yada, it's still motion controls. I just want to use my controller. I'm afraid that Nintendo, which used to be my favourite game company, may have really damaged that industry for gamers like myself. :(

project natal is going to be like all other microsoft hardware. It going to break constantly and people are going to complain about it. If it become the norm for 360 (which I dought, i think its going to fail) then i will most likely leave the 360 and go full ps3/pc.

I honestly hope it does but not in the same way as the Wii. The wii has a lot of games that are just shovel ware. I am not against it working, I am against having games come out with no originality and are branded as original and fresh because its controled in a different way.

If they don't use it as a gimmick, like 3d in Avatar, I'd be fine with it. If it has you doing stuff like, "Hold the plunger prop and wave it up and down to unclog the toilet!!!" then I'm out.

I don't like the idea. Honestly for me the Wii is where its at for motion control because it is basic and your in control with the wii remote. From what I've seen with Project Natal you just use your hands. I would never want to sit there moving my hands to go through menus on a game or on the dashboard.

You know, Gamers back in the day probably said the same thing when they sat on their Macintosh and complained about the Nintendo and Sega Genisis console.

Oh that reminds me that this will most likely mean that the 360 will finally be able to get light-gun styIe games. YES! Thank god. That alone would make the Natal peripheral worth it for me.

The knockoff of sony's eyetoy games notwithstanding. I'm pretty certain they'll have something like that. I wouldn't mind a motion senser only game that comes with Natal to show off it's capabilities. Other than that, I'd still prefer a controller.
