For me, I always pop in my old disks and play the prequels in anticipation of the upcoming sequels. The reason might be to brush up on gameply or to catch up on the story, etc.

As of now, I'm busy with Diablo 2 :D

I tried to squeeze in all the MGS before 4, but didn't finish 3 and couldn't wait.

Yes but not from scratch. I don't delete save files especially if I really like the game. So when a sequel is annouced, I'll just load the lastest save file just to get into the game again. :)

I did Halo 2 before H3 came out and I also did Ninja Gaiden Black before NG2 came out. Thought it be best to sharpen my skills.

I always do this, with movies as well as games.

I just finished playing MGS3, MGS, and MGS2 in preparation for MGS4. (I preordered the game; just have to rent a PS3 now.)

When Legacy of Kain: Defiance came out, I played through Blood Omen, Blood Omen 2, Soul Reaver, and Soul Reaver 2 before starting Defiance.

One of the best parts of a story-based sequel is how much life it breathes into the old games.

I have been known to play the prequels before the sequel comes out.

I've also been known to replay games I'm about to trade in for another game.

I've also been known to go back to old magazines to read reviews and previews of games I am about to buy
