hello

I do not have HD tv, I ultimately decided to buy one when i played crackdown and reading the text was very hard.

I think they do it on purpose.

Later on I backed up from my decision. Here is why.

First I do not get any channels produced in HD. Second Blu-ray and HD movies and shows are not popular and hardly will be in the near future, as dvd will continue to sell the most. Plus i have no bluray player, not to mention higher prices for bluray movies.

So basically I am only left with videogames to buy a new hd tv for. When I went to a friend house and watch cod4 in hd, it didnt blow me away. I can see its clearer but i can also see its not worth $1000+ tv purchase. I tried gears of war, but same story, its NOT that much of a difference. A friend of mine says it really shows with video material like movies and channels, but not so much with videogames.

I have CRT and I think the games of my 360 look good as i enjoy the graphics, but my question is, other than the unclear hard to read text, Am I missing on a lot of the experience not getting and HD tv?

Is there other people with me in the CRT boat, who do not think they need HD tv?

CRT has best colors, black levels, and response rate, right?

Well I received my LCD HD TV as a grad present so i'm not really in same budget boat as you but for me, I can see a very clear, noticable difference in picture quality. The images are amazing and smooth and vibrant and crystal clear. Everytime I play a game on anything else now, it just doesn't feel the same, it's not as "fun" I guess you could say. And for your last comment, they may have a better black level and slightly better response rate but the picture quality with an HD signal or game is just SO much clearer and nicer than the standard.

Solutions:

1. Buy a cheaper HDTV (you can find good HDTVs from popular brands for less than 1000$)

2. Buy a good computer monitor and connect your console on it (you may or may not need to buy an extra cable)

Either way I recommend you buy the stuff online as it is often cheaper. Plus you can use your console to watch movies or other videos in High Definition!
