Now I realize we don't know exactly what features or specs they will have, but anyone who is a fan or has knowledge of the industry has a good idea of what they want and expect from these systems, so what is your absolute limit in spending for these systems when they finally come out?

I have no interest in any more Microsoft systems unless they announce Shenmue 3 as an exclusive for 720, and then I'd pay any price to have it on day one. Barring that improbability I wouldn't pay anything for the system. For the PS4 I wouldn't pay more than $400 because paying more than that for any console is LOL in my humble opinion.

What about you guys?

For me getting a 720 at launch is a done deal with a PS4 sometime soon after. I'd be comfortable paying up to $500 for either of them.

$300 max, and even then the system would need to surpass my expectations and have a lot of killer games for it. I'm in no rush to jump into next-gen gaming

If it was under $300 maybe. If above that, I'd just wait. Who am I kidding? I'll just wait anyways.

I won't spend more than $300. I will wait for the first price drop or great bundle. Unless there is a true killer ap. I will buy PS4 first most likely and wait for 720 probably a few years.

I'd prefer it was less, but I'd pay $500 for the PS4. I'll be surprised if it is that high though.

Pricing the PS4 at $500 when a lot of casual gamers would see the console as a minor upgrade would be such a huge mistake

$10,000. Each. For Xbox 540. And PS4. From the scalpers. On Ebay. Cause I'm rich. And that's how I roll. I wear Gucci. And Prada. And Armani. And Versace. And they might get stained. Standing in line. For a console. On launch day. By the smelly BO gaming nerds.

$300

I don't plan on getting the 720 at all. And I don't plan on getting the PS4 right away.

I have zero intention of purchasing either new console at launch. To get me to do so, they'd have to launch at no more than $250 - I'm talking about a mid-range to premium model, not some 'starter / no hard included' bullsh*t SKU - and have at least 2 launch titles that I desperately want to play. And there's just no way either of those is going to happen.

Surprised to see a lot of people list a $300 cap. Didn't the XBOX 360 and PS3 both launch at over $300?

I'm not in too much of a rush for next gen games, still backlogged.

$400 for the PS4 if there is some killer software and backwards compatibility

Around $700 for Ps4 (not interested in XBox). Depends on if there is online subscription, hardware specs and so on. I may pay a little more than that if it seems real good. Ps3 launched in my country for >$900.

So $50 more than the Wii-U even though the Ps4 will likely be 3-5 times more powerful :|?

I still am not sure if I am gonna jump in at launch. After going through 3 360's and 1 PS3 this gen I am a little hesitant. Edit> I expect them both to retail around $500 for the non crap packages, maybe $450 for the barebones.

For $500-$600 I could get a gaming PC that would spank the crap out of a PS4.

300-400 seems reasonable.  I've been using my pc for all my gaming and media needs hooked up to my 47 inch hd tv so don't really need a console.

Waiting for slim ersion of ps4.

Waiting that long will give me a more reliable system at a cheaper price. And games at a more cheaper price.

Xbox 360 was $299-$399 at launch. PS3 was $499-$599. As for what Im willing to pay, that remains to be seen. Already have Wii U and I see little incentive to get either the next MS or Sony console.

I would pay up to $550 -$600 hell even up to $1000 NZD depending on what the system can do.

I mean i paid that for an iphone 3gs when they came out, only way i could have it on pre-pay without a contract.

Totally depends on the games.  If there's some great stuff I really want to play, I'd be willing to pay $500 next summer.  If not, maybe $400 in 2014.

Yeah it depends on what games are available. I would pay a ridiculous amount for an exclusive from one of my favourite developers or not buy at all regardless of the price if there are no games I want at launch. The only upcoming game I know of that I would buy new hardware to play is Star Citizen and I will be upgrading my PC for that game.

About £300 is about my limit. Not too fussed about getting one as soon as they launch as there won't be many games for them, but once there are several games I really want for them, and have cleared down my backlog of current gen games I might consider getting one.

Depends on the game lineup itself. As I found out with the Wii U, paying a high premium just to have a new system is absolutely not worth it if the games available and coming soon are of low quality, or are too far spread out.

$300 for me. Maybe as high as $400, but definitely no more than that. Anyway, it doesn't even matter what games are available. That's just going to affect whether I buy it at all, not how much I buy it for. I'm not paying more than $400 for any game console, regardless of how great the games are. And if there are no good games, that just means I won't buy the console at all.

$299 is my limit. If they cost more than that at launch I'll wait until they drop in price. I've got plenty of current games to play between my consoles and PC until that happens
