I'm looking to sell my Sega CD and trying to get an idea of what actual gamers will pay for it. Thanks for any help in advance.:D

It's a Model 2 (top-loading). It's in working condition and good cosmetic condition, and it comes with the power cord. But it doesn't have it's original box or original manual with it. I'm also only selling the Sega CD unit, not the Genesis.

I'm also gonna give 4 games with it (all Sega CD, no Genesis ones):

  • Sonic CD (box & manual included)
  • Jurassic Park (box & manual included)
  • Sewer Shark (generic case, no manual)
  • Sol-Feace (box & manual included)

So what do you think would be a fair price for it all?

I don't know it'd be tough for me to value. I think I would pay roughly $20-30 though. This is just me:)

From a collector's perspective I'd say you'd get about 50-100$ for the bundle seeing as the console isn't exactly rare. From a software perspective (someone, like me, who only takes value in the games offered) I'd bid you 20$. I can't see anyone willing to pay more than 100$.

I like peoples answers here cus I was thinking about Ebaying mine. I paid $25 for my Genesis model 1, CD model 2, 2 power adapters, rf cable, and 1 six button controller at Goodwill. Ebay prices range seem to be all over for the CD. You could probably get $30 at the least since you have the power cable and it works.

I bought both of my Sega Cd's for under $20, and I got the Gen with it. SCD isn't rare, but it isn't easy to come by either. The only thing that kills the resale value is that nobody wants them except for hard core gamers/collectors. The system itself wasn't all that great, and most of the games were terrible.

I wouldn't pay more than $10 for the CD unit only, and maybe $10 for the games. $20 for everything is the most I'd go, but since I frequent Thrift Stores and Flea Markets, it wouldn't be worth it to me. I could, and have, found better deals. A few weeks ago I got a Gen model 1, CD model 1, all the wires, and 4 sports games(crap I know, but they were included), plus a 6 button controller for $25.

$20 should be fairly easy to get, $30 managable, and if you want any more, you'll have to find that one person who will pay it.

Not much, Sega CD had a pretty limited library and it was even more limited if you're counting good games that you couldn't get elsewhere (Sonic CD was re-released multiple times on PC for instance). Now if you had a fully functioning CDX that might be worth something. ;)

I wouldonly buy the complete games. Box and Manual. Hopefully you will get$25.00 on Ebay.

If I were to buy a Sega CD I would only buy a first edition Model 1 Sega CD, It would have to be complete in Box with everthing that originally came with the first edition Sega CD. Out of 149 Sega CD games released there is only about 20 good games. Most were trash.

Agree with this totally. While there are a few good games, they are few in just that, so it may not be worth too much, depending on your gaming desires. I have a Sega CD, but the only game I have is Sewer Shark, which is a pack-in title, so I may not be the most knowledgeable one on this, but the ones I remember playing as a kid weren't that great. I'd like to get some of the fighters on the Sega CD, like Mortal Kombat, but I already have it on the 32X, so it may be a waste. My Saturn is my 2D fighter platform anyways. I really don't think there is worthy enough library to pay over 50.00 for the Sega CD.

I REALLY wanted one so I went on Ebay and got one for 70.00. It came with Box, Model 1 genesis, adaptors. 4 CD games and 3 Genesis games.

for me 5 top class games can make a system amazing and that's what sega cd is, it has at least 5 games between 9 and 10

third world war, snatcher, lunar ss, lunar eb, sonic cd, possibly even shining force cd(to me it is)

these 5/6 games are so good and either exclusive or by far best experienced on sega cd

then there is also a number of games that are very good and barely get noticed like rise of the dragon, the batman and spiderman game(s), the best on any 16 bit console for sure, ecco the dolphin for sega cd is amazing, some good rpg type of games like vay, dark wizard, popful mail(more platform) or space avdenture, some very good games known from amiga or pc like another world, flashback and secret of monkey island and some very good shooters like android assault and silpheed.

the system is truly great and there's something for everyone. it's one of my favorites only you really need to be open for it to look at the great games for it. same with 3do except sega cd has way more better games

The only problem with the Sega CD is tha most of it's best games cost more than twice the system and those games can be hard to come by, it's not a very good system for the average gamer to amass a collection on.

not true. eternal blue will cost you around 60$ and snatcher a lot more, I think popful mail is also very expensive but all the other games can be acquired for 30$ or a lot less

I guess that I'm cheap when it comes to retro games :P. After looking on eBay at the price of the system itself being only $10, twice that wasn't being too far off for game prices. :P
