Not sure if this has been asked a lot but yeah. Me it depends. Full price games not as often but since I picked up a Original Xbox with a giftcard I got for Christmas I can now go back and get great games real cheap. Most games are under $20 so its nice. But I try to wait at least 2 months until I pick up another game.
I would say I don't buy more than 4 games a year, since I'm extremely choosy with them. The games have to give me such an awesome first impression that -if they don't give it- I wouln't play them. Last year (2008), I bought 7 games, but hte big difference was that -at home- we got a PS3 and a Wii, so several new games were needed. For this year, I would pretty much stay on the 4 games/year range. For the moment, I'm only looking forward for "Dragon Age: Origins" and "Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier".
I unfortunately generally don't get most of my new games until some holidays roll around- whether it be christmas or birthdays. I occasionally get games at other points in the year- preferably downloadable games, such as those on offer with Steam.
If I just bought the console, maybe 10 games in the first year (mostly used old games) (got 4 in a month for DS, 12 in first year for 360), then around 4 or 5 new games per year.
I get a new game about once a month. Maybe slightly more. However, I rarely (maybe twice a year) pay full price for a game - Unless it's something I've been waiting for, I get it used a few months to a year after it comes out.
I purchase games if they appeal me, so it always changes. Last year I barely bought any games until the holidays rolled around. I buy most of my games around the holidays since that's when a lot of deals start popping up. Right now though I'm buying a ton of games (mostly older ones) and have a few games in sight in the upcoming months.
