Expecting solid multi-player from a Halo game, is like expecting a good narrative from an RPG from BioWare. All I want to know how does the campaign fair? I've heard polarizing viewpoints towards it, but I like to know what you guys think. Is it as epic and memorable as the first Halo? Or underwhelming as Halo 2 & 3? Also, how's the storytelling?

There is also a Romeo and Juliet or a Star wars revenge of the sith feel. You know it will not go good for them.

It starts out a little slow, but around Mission 5 it heats up and the remainder is amazing.

Is the single player worth $60? I don't want to subsidize all the multiplayer people.

Some of it's good. Most is kind of generic, some parts of the game feel like bad versions of levels from the first Halo, the story isn't done well, allied AI is terrible, you aren't with more than one of your squad that often, and there is very little (or no for some characters) character development, you don't see that many civilians or Marines for it being the fall of Reach, its a very short game (I beat it with a friend in Legendary co-op in about 7 hours). Unless you want to make levels in Forge, play Firefight, play multiplayer, or make videos and screenshots I wouldn't recommend the game for the SP.

Ouch, that's a shame. Wish they would sell a single player only version for a third the price. Thank you for the feedback.

The characters have no developtment? That's a shame, considering Bungie were aiming for a more character driven and intimate storyline with this one. I was hoping for some memorable and endearing characters in a FPS, in the vein of Half-Life 2 that is.

I found it to be great myself. The last little bit in the final chapter left me with some mixed feelings but it was a suitable way to end the campaign. Fantastic enemy AI and an awesome soundtrack made the fighting intense and very fun. I liked the darker tone to the story as it lent itself to some powerful moments. It took me about 13 hours on Heroic.

What is forge? A map or a gameplay mode?

Forge is a game mode where a group of friends can place all type of object on the map from start location, weapons to parts of building. There are some funny items like golf balls and golf clubs. It take a little time to learn how to use it like setting up a race course.

Edit to add:

They also record you games so you can watch them later or share them.

It's far better than the campaign in Halos 2 and 3, though not quite up to par with CE or ODST. The first half is rather slow but after mission sixish, it really picks up. I would have liked to have gotten to know Noble team a bit better, to be honest. Jorge was the only one I really felt any connection to. Additionally, the last level is fantastic, the scale is grand, and the sound score is beyond amazing. Towards the end, the score really built a sense of overwhelming dread.
Noble Six's final stand was really quite sad. As was Jorge's death.
Why not just read a review? Anyway, it's all about opinion, what makes you think are opinions are better then anyone elses? Personally all Halo games had excellent single player games imo, I like Reaches the best because of the scale and challenge it presents in terms of dificulty.

Outside of a few shooting games, most shooters don't have good characters in them, yes the characters are weak in Halo Reach, but most shooters have weak characters as well, if you want a good story playing a shooter 9 out of 10 times isn't going to satisfy you.

Most reviewers tend to review games with starry eyes, so to speak. They aren't conciously biased, but they are sometimes so excited about something that they look past flaws. Its not just all opinions, there are objective things that reviewers should mention but sometimes don't.

I remember when my brother (a big sports fan) picked up NFL2K on the DC. Contrary to the glowing reviews, he found the running game to be broken (contact resulted in a tackle unless the ball carrier was spinning). No reviewers acknowledged having the problem, but he went onto a NFL website where he hung out and found a bunch of people were making the same complaint.

Am I saying reviewers were wrong for liking NFL2K as much as they did? No, but in their eagerness to convince players of its merits, they shouldn't have looked past its weak spot(s) in the text portion of their reviews. That tendency is why gamers on the fence will often seek the opinions of other ordinary gamers rather than professional reviewers.

I could care less about Forge. As it looks primitive to what you can do on the PC.

I wrote a review if you're interested, it outlines how I feel about it.

I prefer a non-bias and a far more objective review, thanks.

Fair enough. I actually deleted my review as it was written in a fit of frustration, and after having played a bit more, realize it held a few inaccuracies although I do still stand by some of what I said. Perhaps I'll write a new one eventually, but I can say I hold no bias against any Halo game. The first game is close to my favorite FPS ever.

Yes, its quite primitive compared to what you can do on the PC, because its not an SDK but a level builder...and its more tedious.

I used source sdk and elderscrolls sdk...its easier to use than both of them...but takes alot more time to build stuff perfectly
