Okay, for about 7 months now my brother and i have been saving for a new computer(we don't have jobs) and i recently decided to get a PS3 instead, and out estimated time to get the new pc is in september and i have enough money to get the ps3 with 80gb, new edition. But my bro declines and says we should wait to get a new pc. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! Anyone help me decide.

agreed, get a pc if the one you have is ancient and slow

pc has a lot better games than ps3 and a better investment in the long run

ps3 is too expensive for a gaming system, and with a computer you can do lots more than game (internet, music, document processing, printing, scanning, etc.)

wellmy pc ins't slow, nor is it aincent, but not good for gaming, i have like 6 steam games and the only one i can't run it cs:s, but i can play gmod, other stuff. mayby ill get that onlive thing when it comes out, but ill most likely buy a ps3 before a new pc.

In general, we really do not recommend individual threads for console/game recommendations, especially console recommendations, as they can end up dissolving into System-Wars-like banter. Ultimately, just use things like the library of games and features of each platform that you really, honestly like, and use them to guide you to the answer. Worst case scenario is just to wait longer, because even if you jump in the game later, you can either get a more powerful PC for the same price of what's available now, or a PS3 for cheaper, PLUS have access to a backlog of great games.
