I don't want a multimedia box I want a game console.

I have a ps3 and 360 but the 360 takes the cake. When I sign into live what is all this BS on my screen. I don't want hulu or netflix or to watch a movies. I bought my console for one thing and thats games. I don't even know that 3/4 of this stuff is nor do I care. If it plays games thats all I care about.

Don't worry; in the near future, the Wii, 360, & PS3 will be reduced to just being ordinary disc systems with HDD's, just like with Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS2, & Xbox.

Turn on disc auto-play in the settings and you never have to see the dashboard again...problem solved.

To each their own. Personally I love having all these features on my consoles. Anyway they still play games just fine so just ignore the other stuff. It's not like they're forcing you to download or use any of it.Archangel3371

Pretty much what I do. Or you can just not buy the machine. You'll have to get used to this multimedia thing if you buy consoles.

I see people say this but I'm skeptical. I'd say it's the last generation of consoles that has physical media, but I don't see it being the so-called "last generation". You still need some sort of hardware to play games on, and I really don't believe cloud gaming services are the answer any time soon. Assuming Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are all still around 7-8 years from now, it's not like they're just going to call it quits if the next generation is a success. 

Consoles are heading in a similar direction to smartphones. It's no longer good enough to just play games it must also do a bunch of other things.

that's the road consoles are taking.  Personally, I already have a PC that does all those things better, and no longer have a use for a console.

Get a PS4, because Sony wants games first and wants to push all that Multimedia garbage in shadows of the menu.

may as well get used to it man.its the wave of the future,and its not console excusive.i can access the net on all the electronic devices i own including my ipod,blueray player,smart tv,ps3, phone,and of course,mypc.
