I'm trying to find one now myself. I saw the sealed ones on amazon and ebay for $400-$700 I really don't see many people buying at that price but I'm no collector.

I would buy one to open it and play it or at least when the ones I have now die. and I think 100$ is a fair price. ebay has them listed for 400$ maybe but no one will buy them. when do people grow a brain and when looking on ebay look at FINISHED items to see what prices they go for

I would buy at least one. It's a good price for a sealed one.

Not worth it, since you can buy an unsealed one for $10.

^ $10?! Wow. Where? I mean, yeah, Dreamcasts are cheap, but I see around $30 as the going rate for a used Dreamcast. If you're finding $10 ones, I'd buy em up then resell em, and keep one for a back-up even.

Yes I would buy a sealed Dreamcast for $100.00. But not 5 of them for $500.00. If you are really a fan of Sega then it is worth it. (to a console/game collector it is worth it)

To a regular person maybe not unless you can readily find Dreamcast games?

It varies depending on where you are, but here in Denver $14.99-19.99 is the common pricing. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see one for $10.00.

It is still possible to find deals on them. In fact, Amazon had a batch of new ones awhile back for $89.99.

I suppose for $100.00 it's not a bad deal. Wouldn't hurt if there were a few games thrown in though!:o

The $100 price tag / amount of value would be up to you, I know it was worth $199 when I got mine at launch, though I've not kept it sealed all this time. In fact, the same system still works great - so it just might be worth it. Honestly, I remember years ago, passing up brand-new top-loading NES systems at Wal-Mart when they released for $49 (I had moved on to SNES and wasn't a collector then) and I remember TigerDirect - around 1996 - having brand-new Atari Jaguar systems for $49 - again I wasn't a collector then, so I passed-on.

I've bought mine used, with two controllers and one VMU for 25 euro so I think 100 dollars for a dreamcast is paying too much, even if it is sealed

For a brand new, sealed Dreamcast that isn't too bad, although unless you intend on keeping it sealed forever, I'd just go and buy a used one. I've seen them as low as $10 at thrift stores and flea markets.

You never know where a used dreamcast has been, though. If you keep your stuff, I say go for it. You also get the brand new controller which is a huge plus. The DC is similar to the N64 in that sometimes the controller will run you more than you like--I've seen new N64 controllers go for $75.

Also be careful with the term "sealed" for consoles it is a little different, but I've seen quite a few scams selling used games as sealed simply because it was shrink wrapped.

I'm not sure people actually buy sealed ones at those prices though. BTW, who's the third guy in your sig. I know of Sebastian and Zero.

Buy one and sell it for twice the price on eBay. That way you'll turn a profit no matter the bids.

I remembered that a while ago ThinkGeek had brand-new Dreamcast systems, but couldn't remember how much they were offered for - then I found this story: http://kotaku.com/5222703/dreamcast-new-in-box-99-at-thinkgeek - that may be where your local shop got them from. As I mentioned before, it might be worth the price to keep one sealed, but honestly the best way to experience a console system is to play it.

Yeah, I hate it when people list something at a way higher price rather than a reasonable one. One reason being is other people with that item are like "oh **** X is worth that? I'll sell mine only for 20 bucks more. I'll be rolling in da $$$." It never happens. They never sell it and they get offended when you offer them a reasonable price. Plus more people list their item for that ridiculus price and think that is the going price. Soon enough you can't find one for a reasonable price because a couple of jaggoffs decided to list theirs for a ridiculous price.

true. 10 years ago everyone would list their stuff for 1$ basically and let people bid on it with no reserves. now you won't find that anymore

Yeah, I miss those days. Got some great comics for dirt cheap then.

To Selvis:
If people were smart, they'd do the opposite. They'd see how much it's going for and sell it for like $5-$10 less, and they'd sell a lot faster and make more business.

if you KNOW somebody that will pay YOU over $100 for one, then yeah do it. but if you plan on buying it and keeping it, then NO. and honestly I dont see the value of a sealed Dreamcast going up much. It's not a rare or old console. See if you can buy 2 of them for $175 or something, doesnt hurt to ask.

If they're 100 dollars, go for it.
