What if next gen a console(doesn't matter which) had a multiple game holder ??? Like it can hold 3,5 or so games. Like you put it in and then u hit say 1 2 3 4 5 whatever on the console (or controller) and it puts that disc into the reader. Good Idea ?? Bad ???

Although I do see the value in that, just go with digital distribution and have ALL your games on your console. :D

Same here, I'm not a fan of digital downloads, much rather have a physical copy :D the idea is pretty cool, would be awesome for multi disk games so you don't have to interrupt game play to change disk.

I prefer looking at my digital collection. Less clutter, still just as pretty, and much cheaper to attain. :P

bad idea, the console would be bigger than any current consoles, more moving part would mean it would be easier to break or have something go wrong

Only problem I see is that the disk tray would have to be huge in order to fit 5 disks. I like my consoles to be more compact.

That would be an unnecessary cost and would just make the bigger. Plus, there's digital distribution.

So, yeah, it was a crazy thought after all.

Ha nooo way digital distribution ftw. I actually spent today throwing out old game boxes, I'll get called a heretic but I probably threw out 30-50 gamecube, xbox, ps2 game boxes and about 50 N64, NES, and supernintendo carts. I was disgusted with how much waste gaming as a hobby accumulates over the years. I'll try to stick to DD for all my purchases now.

Nah, we don't need a multi disc drive... I don't like those anyway.

AND YES it would be more than $599 US DOLLARS.

multi-dvd = billionaire

You do realize that most probably future consoles will be using Digital Distribution and less physical copies. They aren't gonna not use it cause you don't like it.

Will it work, though? Last I checked, Mass Effect 2 was 47.99£ on PSN. It was on sale on Steam for 4.99£ recently, however. Since there is less competition on a console, how will it work?

If Steam worked on PC after it's horrible debut, I think slowly the DD services on Consoles will work. As for pricing, unfortunately we live in a world with greedy bastards, so they'll be expensive, I don't even wanna pretend that they'll be cheaper than physical copies. It's just how it is. It sucks. Only solution is to wait it out and buy the game when it's on sale or something.

What I meant was, a console is like a monopoly. You won't have competing services like Steam, GamersGate, GOG, or Green Man Gaming on a single console like you would on the PC as they are closed platforms.

exactly. altho i think its just a useless feature that will raise the price of the console. and wat if somethin hapened to the console. u could lose 4 or 5 games rather than just one
