If your current weapon says strength+5% and the one at the store says strength+10% then the one at the store does more damage.CreepingDeath_So every weapon that has more strength will do more damage? So there isn't another stat that is also involved in damage?

I'll agree with that comment as well. Stick with getting the weapons you don't have to pay for. The stuff you find in chests and boss fights are decent enough. You gotta understand that Final Fantasy X isn't like previous Final Fantasy games, in which at each town, they'll be weapons and armour that does more damage and has protection than the ones at the last town you visited, Final Fantasy X is more complex than that, and you'll be able to find out why when you get introduced to the customization feature later on.
Oh, and if I was you, I would just buy every weapon, because let's be honest, getting Gil in Final Fantasy X is so easy.

I was gunna say what bhe said ^^
all weapons do enarly the same damage unless they're upgraded with strength add ons (for eexample the broherhood is upgraded with strength +15% after guadosalam) making it quite powerful.. but it has the watertouch so it won't do damage against water opponents and will do really high damage against fire and lightning opponents)
You might end up being angry with yourself when you meet Yojimbo, and when you have to throw away weapons when your inventory is filled up.You gotta understand that Final Fantasy X isn't like previous Final Fantasy games, in which at each town, they'll be weapons and armour that does more damage and has protection than the ones at the last town you visited, Final Fantasy X is more complex than that, and you'll be able to find out why when you get introduced to the customization feature later on.

dude ur soo right cause yojimbo only attacks when u pay him and in order for u to get him u have to give up a lot of gil thats why u should save it instead of goign around wasting your gil im not saying for you not to buy weapons ro armor at all but think about it b4 u do so
the most important thing you should know about weapons is that a certain point you can create abilities for them(using certain objects depending on the ability you want),and buy weapons that give you up to 4 abilities or slots for abilities, but at a point of the game you can get the star weapons (consult some faqs about how to get this weapon) and although you can create weapons that have abilities that in theory are better than the star weapons, the star weapons have a special bonus to the damage you make depending on certain conditions (have full lifepoint or magic points) that make this weapons better than anything you can create. There are no star armours so creating the perfect armor really is something that lies in your hands.
i just made weapons for the most part. found a nice weapon with lots of open slots, and then farmed the items i needed to build them up.
I made mostly poisoned weapons, and then kept a back up with no element affiliation just in case something was immune to it.
