and i gotta say, im ok with it.

its a LOT of data gone, and while ill miss my perfect FFT (my main group deleveled and releveled to a point where an "easy" game is now broken :P ) and FF7 (all 3 of my guys had master summon/magic/command as well as 4x cut, phoenix-final attack, etc) i beat most of my games on the console and i dont really mind playing fft and 7 again (i would eventually for no reason anyway) so its just a few games ill have to start over with and i kinda saw it coming so i put tales of grace f's save in the cloud.

if this happened at any other time id prolly be pissed (glad i platinumed blood money when i did; the same day my ps3 got the ylod) but i really dont care too much. oh and i lost my vita saves cause sony's "backup" file function is apparently a joke, which i found out AFTER i backed up my files and formated it (to play japan's psn titles)

i remember gettin pissed as a kid when this happened to my memory cards (usually after taking my console to a family gathering, apparently the only game they knew how to play was "hey, lets delete everything from his memory card")

anywho, how would you are did you react if/when this happened to you? if it did, how did it?

(oh, and i guess techinally i lost my 360 data too, but thats cause i formatted it to sell it.)

ps3 got the ylod last august. I didnt loose everything though, I had a backup... that was already a year old at the time:(

all and all, I didnt loose that much, at least not for games that I was in the middle of. Only files that really stung were the loss of my breath of fire dragon quarter data (I finally almost had my D ratio to 1/4) and my WKC2 data because I had like 400 hours put into that game.

I lost data on my first few vita games when I deleted some games to make space on my memory card,  I didnt realize that the saved data was tied to that game file rather than the system itself (unlike the psp and ps3)

I laugh when I think about the ps3 part of this because about 4 days before the ylod I was saying to myself "I should really make a more recent backup" :P

When I upgraded the HDD in my PS3 my Motorstorm Pacific Rift save got corrupted.  It kind of ticked me off because I was working on some trophies and of course all progress was reset to zero.  I hadn't played that game in about a year though so I guess I can't complain too much lol.

The NBA 2k series is one of the best franchises of all time. With that said, their have been occasional save game glitches. Try playing through an 82 game season (easily over 100 hours) and having your game save glitch. Some minor efforts could combat this, for sure, like having multiple saves, but it still sucked.

no i lost everything else, thats just irrelevant so i didnt bring it up (post was a lil longer for my liking to begin with so i didnt go into even further detail) i can just redownload my games (which i already did) i cant download my saves (well, i could of if i backed them all up to the cloud) so i didnt feel it worth noting.

Oh ok then. You probably know this already, but aside from the cloud you can also backup your saved games on a USB drive or SD card. I advise you do so next batch of saves.

Oh man, this is why I love the Online Cloud thing. If my PS3 were to randomly explode I wouldn't lose any of my save data. Even before this, I used a USB to store most of my online saves. One time it even saved my ass when I had to restore my PS3 due to corrupt data or something. I don't like the thought ever of losing game saves. I could get over it for games I have no intention of playing game, but for games I've put dozens or so hours into... oh man. When I was younger I did something stupid and corrupted the data of a game I played a LOT and was so devastated by it I never played the game again.
