I have a PSP and a DSi, but my favorite handheld of all time is the GBA.... Well the GBA SP2, if you will. Although the regular SP and Micro are fine too. I remember when Nintendo wasn't sure about how well the DS would fly, so they claimed that it was just a "third pillar" and that the GBA would continue on. Well we all know how that turned out. Fast forward to 2009 and I've got to say I really miss the GBA platform. It was so simple. Fun and simple games that could be played with only four buttons and no stylus to fiddle with. Does anyone else still really love the GBA? And here's a question for you: if they decided to release new GBA software again, would you buy it? I know I would snap up new games in a heartbeat if they were any good. Alas that will most likely never happen.

I agree with you 100% I have both a PSP and a DS Lite but I always find myself pulling out my Gameboy over the other two. Nothing like a nostalgic run through Metriod Fusion! (Even though it isn't that old :P )

I donno. DS is a good successor imo becuase it can play all the genres, and retro games the GBA did, and more.

When will Nintendo announce a download service for their handhelds though? :'( I'd love that. And it'd be cool if you could download GBA games too since they removed the GBA support.

As an owner of a PSP, DS, and GBA, the main thing I use my GBA for these days is my old Gameboy black and white titles. Have a whole lot of these older games and since the DS Lite can handle GBA but not the original GB carts, I kinda have to keep the GBA around as it still serves a major purpose for me.

Ninja Five-O is good, the three Castlevania GBA titles are nice, Gradius Galxies is nice if you like shmups, Bubble Bobble Old and New is good, especially the original arcade game emulated on the pack with an updated Bubble Bobble, Mario Vs. DK reminded me of the 1994 Donkey Kong redux for GBC, which was a good thing. You have two Metroid games that were decent for the GBA, and last but not least Capcom Classics Mini Mix, which had the NES versions of Mighty Final Fight, Bionic Commando, and Strider on it, I shamefully passed on a copy of it and wish I didn't now.

I can't really say that I miss it too much. The main reason being that I mostly play Castlevania titles on handhelds, and the functionality of them has never changed from GBA to DS (or PSP). For them there are really only advantages (better graphics, second screen for the map etc.).
I can see what you mean about the advantage of the simpler games (and gameplay), though. That's why I never really play my PSP while I'm away from home. It's too big and unhandy for a real handheld.

You know what I miss....I miss Nintendo actually creating ground breaking games and leading the way in the Game-On experience. Those were the good ole days when everyone talked about Punch-Outs patterns or where the flutes were hidden....now Nin is a whore to tweens and clueless senior citizens that are feeling the generation gap. GBA is a small part of what has been lost. Bitter...yes. Resentful...no.

Game Boy Brick

The GBA was good, but I always felt like the GBA collection had much less top rated games in comparison to the GB or the GBC. I have a box full of GB and GBC games, like 50, 60, 70, but I only have like 10 GBA games that were worth buying, IMO, Golden Sun, THPS2, Mario Kart, Advance Wars, Final Fantasy and a few others.

I only got the GBA 2 weeks ago SP and micro only got them as they were cheap they are great the problem is finding the game especially Nintendo own games like Donkey Kong and Mario and when you find them they are expensive I did get Super Mario Bros 3 on it it's still addictive. It's annoying how many fake GBA games I have came across when looking for used games.

Being a GameBoy fan, I'm surprised I've never heard of the GBA SP2

I still play on my GBA once in a while...

:)
