Although I am not positive this is what you are looking for, it can't hurt to check out Machinarium. An independent point-and-click adventure and puzzle game. It won an award in Visual Art at the 2009 Independent Games Festival and also was a PAX 10 finalist. There is a free demo on the site to check out. http://machinarium.net Hope that helps!

I don't know if it's completely for what you are looking, but A Vampyre Story was supposed tobe pretty good.

Try this games:

Phantasmagoria

Phantasmagoria 2: A Puzzle of Flesh

Harvester

The 11th. Hour

The 7th Guest

Sanitarium

Those are some of the best creepy point and click games, although some are pretty gory too (Phantasmagoria, Phantasmagoria 2 and specially Harvester are incredibly violent).

Return to Ravenhearst was pretty freaky for a hidden object game; I was impressed.

You should definitely try The Experiment. One thing that makes it stand out from your usual point-and-click adventure is that you have to guide a scientist who is stranded onboard an abandoned vessel by flipping light switches in various rooms while keeping track of her progress through the use of surveillance cameras.

Its well worth the $20.

I read the review for it here on GS, and it looks like a pretty good game, one that has a unique idea and executes it well.

Not really creepy (well, I was scared of it when I was five:P) but a really unique and artistic adventure game is the original Mata Nui online game released of Bionicle.com. This is almost literaly unknown by gaming community and deserves a lot more recognition. It has very stylised and memorable worlds and some really, really awesome flash animation. Absolutely free to download, I wish I could send you a copy but I don't know how to do links and downloads. Great to come back to and definately holds the title of the best advergame ever made:P

Perhaps something like 'Zork Nemesis' is what you're after? It isn't really a horror (though it used to creep me out quite a bit), it just has a quite creepy/somber/surreal atmosphere. It is a simple old first-person-point-and-click-adventure-puzzle game. It is quite old too so it would be cheap to buy. It's like 'Myst' with a creepier atmosphere... or should I say atmosFEAR! (He he, I made a pun)
