Who else has played this amazing game? Personally I think it's one of the best games I've ever played and probably my favourite 2D platformer ever. I think the game is great for more than just it's high difficulty. Alot of people see I wanna be the guy as just an insanely hard game and not see it's true merits, but I disagree. I think IWBTG is a fantastic game with perfect control, amazing level design, terrific sound, some great boss fights and a style with a sense of humour few games out there can match.

Alot of people say IWBTG is one of if not the hardest game ever made, but I dont think so. In fact it's not even close to that imo. I dont consider myself to be the greatest gamer in the world. There's tons of games out there I've failed to complete because I've found them too hard. Most of them were in the 8 bit and 16 bit generations obviously. But I did manage to complete IWBTG. That alone shows that IWBTG isn't one of the hardest games ever made, and is actually a very doable game. I even completed it on the very hard difficulty as well. IWBTG is a great challenge and is very fun because of it. Unlike other very hard 2D platformers out there, IWBTG isn't hard by being broken. Initially it seems as though it is, but truthfully the game is just about learning what will kill you in that room and perfecting your way past it. Things do kill you unexpectedly but regular savepoints stop this from setting you back far. IWBTG is possibly the hardest non broken game ever made though.

IWBTG probably isn't a mass appeal game but for those that like this type of trial and error platforming gameplay it is outstanding. The people that like it probably love it. I know I do. I urge everyone to try it out. It might be your thing, you never know. There's also lots of references to classic games so there's some cool nostalgia in there for some people as well.

It's a free download. Just type I wanna be the guy into google and its the first site that comes up. Heres a pretty funny review of the game on youtube as well to see what you're getting into.

That game makes me want to kill myself. More than Contra or the original Ninja Gaiden will ever make me. Seriously who the hell can beat it on the hardest difficulty? No save points at all? Lol

Hardest difficulty I'll agree is impossible because of no save points, but when it comes to the other difficulty levels I think the difficulty of the game is pretty exaggerated. Its not that hard. For example compared to the game you mentioned, Contra. Now that game is impossible. Never played ninja gaiden so I cant comment there. I think that most of the games I've played in the 8 bit and 16 bit generations are harder than iwbtg. IWBTG is pretty generous with it's save points on medium and hard difficulties(the easiest and medium difficulty levels in iwbtg). I managed to complete this game. More than once. That pretty much proves how much people exaggerate the difficulty of this game.

When the media slags off GTA for being the cause of teenage violence from video games, they are wrong. It's IWBTG- that game makes everyone want to either kill themselves or someone else... ...I hate that game

Could someone please explain to me why I wanna be the guy is considered to be so hard? I seriously dont get it. How the hell is IWBTG any harder than the majority of games 16 bit and before? I think IWBTG is hard but it's not that hard. There's very few games 16 bit and before that I found easier than IWBTG. I even think the original Super Mario Bros is a harder game than IWBTG.

Go back and play a bunch of old 8 bit and 16 bit games and attempt to complete them. Then dare to tell me IWBTG is a harder game to complete than games were back then. Thats assuming you're playing the original games the way they were meant to be played with limited lives and no saving. IWBTG on impossible difficulty is possibly the hardest game ever. On all the other difficulty levels though it's not even in the same league as countless other games I've played in terms of difficulty.

Well first time through each screen is pretty harsh a new player. Once you figure out the patterns of each screen, it becomes less difficult. So I guess in some ways it is exaggerated.

I watched a friend play it, and I have no interest in ever playing it. I prefer games that are challenging due to content, not memorizing a particular pattern of movement where you can't be off more than a second or a centimeter.

I love it, but there was one bit not too far into it that I just could not do:

I knew what I had to do, I just couldn't physically do it. I was doing it over and over for two hours straight, and just gave up in the end.

Watta? LoL, broken_bass. I can't imagine anyone jumping and avoiding those spikes at the same time. This game is a killer!

To make things worse, they're moving up and down. Very quickly.

Wait till you see the room where you get the secret item. That's murder. I played it for a bit, but I also gave up on that same spot. I just couldn't do it.
