I know I know you can play every retro game right now but playing it in the time period it was released is a lot more appealing then playing it, say 20 years later. I'm not saying games lose appeal after a certain time(some do), it's just that the feeling you get playing a current game is a lot more interesting. Knowing the game is cutting edge in gaming entertainment makes you enjoy the game a little more, plus you appreciate the game a lot more. So yeah lets do this! what year would you go back to (if you had a time machine)? oh and why?

I'd go back in what is for me the golden years of gaming, the 80's-90's.

1983, year of the home video game crash. While this sounds wierd, it's ideal for me because then I can get boatloads of Atari games for almost nothing comparably. Plus in 1983 the arcades are still alive and strong and the commodore 64 is dominating the computer market, and in two short years the NES will hit the scene, and I'll finnally be able to get ROB the robot

I'd go back to 2001 and stop myself from getting rid of all my valuable Saturn games in exchange for a PS2. I would instead convince myself to scrape together enough cash to buy one outright so that I could still be playing Panzer Dragoon Saga, Guardian Heroes, Shining Force III, Shining the Holy Ark, Shining Wisdom, & Magic Knight Rayearth today, and still enjoy the greatness of the PS2 as well.

I would go back to 1995, and buy a 100 copies each of Earthbound and Chrono Trigger. Then I'd come back to present day and sell them on eBay for $500 each.

I'd probably go back to the mid-90's, at least when I was in kindergarten. Games like Super Mario RPG, Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country, and Sonic the Hedgehog were just a lot more fun when I was younger. I'd also probably go back to the late 90's, since that's when Pokemon for GB came out and I always used to watch my siblings play FFVII(yes, watching my brother play video games was more enjoyable than me playing them!). I miss childhood!

August 1983 so that I could buy the game Rocky for my Colecovision.

By the time I got the supercontrollers, the market had tanked and I couldn't find the game anywhere.

Baseball and Front Line were fun, but it was Rocky I had my heart set on.

I would like to go back to the early 90's right around the time the SNES came out. One of the best times in gaming.

interesting question. im not sure actually...... probably sometime in the mid 90s,I would go visit myself as a young kid at the arcades, there was a PS1 display in that arcade I use to visit alot, I would go and watch as kid me, would be amazed by the "amazing graphics" of Battle Arena Toshinden.

Back to ol' 1985 to see the releases of the classics still continued today. It'd be interesting to see this. Plus I could own the games all over again, this time with them being brand new. :)

I've never heard of a single Atari game going for over 500 dollars, but anyway as I said in my previous post, I would have gone to a similar time to this. But if I did I would be all over getting as many sealed copies of Chase the Chuckwagon and Pepsi Invaders as possible, those are two of the most valuble games for the 2600

Video-game wise...late '90s, good times then. =D Or maybe the SNES era to see what all the madness about it was, I fail to see all the worship for the system, it was good but I don't really see it as anything great, I'd rather a TurbografX16, a Genesis, a PSX, an N64 or a Dreamcast anyday...XD

I'd go back to the early 90's. I'd love to live in the time where playing the NES was awesome and they held competitions like in that movie "The Wizard". I want a powerglove :)
