Sort of. Well I've just started playing it hardcore , in the past week , and I'm always low on health and in battles don't last too long. Is it better to make potions for health or buy them ? I have a good amount of coin and a good chunk of incredients. Any help would be great.

It's probably better to make potions, but I find investing in the Alchemy skill is a waste of time. You're better off learning Restoration magic; at least that's what I find more effective.

Assuming you are pre-1.5 patch, the best thing you can do is increase your Smithing level to 100 so that you can craft better armor and weapons. 400-500 iron daggers will do (this is assuming you don't have the 1.5 patch which fixes this). Stealth is also a good option to severely weaken your enemies. Also, pay close attention to your environment (like oil on the ground that you can set on fire, ballistas etc) that you can use to turn the tides on your opponent. Conjuring Atronachs also is helpful (in addition to the companion you get).

Forget about potions: start boosting your levels in Restoration and buy the following spells: Healing>Close Wounds>Grand Healing Couple the 300 points cured by Grand Healing with a spell called Equilibrium (turns HP into MP) and you have infinite life and magicka. Skyrim is exploit heaven.

I did my hardcore playthrough (Deadly Dragons, Wars in Skyrim and Master difficulty) with a Restoration/Heavy Armor/Shield&Sword Imperial -- I have max. armor (573 or something like that) with a steel set, roughly 1k with Daedric set. Physical damage is reduced greatly, so the next big issue is magic damage: craft or buy elemental resistance potions -- you won't have an issue dealing with regular mages, only with the occasional harder dragon or high-tier wizard -- use them when needed. If you have enchanting, make 80% (I think 80% is the highest you can get) MR gear.

[QUOTE="fend_oblivion"] I think I've already patched it. Not quite sure though. I'd have to look. But thanks for the tips. Ballistas are those siege weapons (kinda like a huge cross bow). You can see them in some of the Dwarven Ruins. As for patch 1.5, I recall reading an article in Eurogamer that said it did. I think the new system is better the gear you smith, the more experience you get.

Nice, I may have to jump back into Skyrim. Any glitches with the new patch?

ya i've never wasted time in alchemy either, best off just getting restoration high and using that. I do keep healing pots though handy in very tight situations, but most of the time u dont need them.

That's dopiest question ever, it's not like it's japanese rpg where making biggest mistake can most possibly handicapped boss fights.

Sky rim has no boundary's or restrictions in fact you could just camp on rock shooting arrows at enemy's all day.

You could rob shop, evoid battle and sleep or warp back to bed and continue battle same for fall out 3.

Fix it how? In that the trick doesn't work anymore, is less effective, or... what?

Smithing skill now increases depending on the level of the item you make, instead of going up by a fixed amount no matter what you forge. I guess this means you can't just keep crafting hide bracers like I did, but you have to start crafting advanced equipment or the skill won't go up anymore. I don't know how they didn't think of this before they released the game, a monkey would have seen that smithing as they made it was broken and pointless.
