anyone else agree? im sick of being the spy fighting against the terrorist plot to stop some suicide bomber from blowing up a cruise ship, i want to play as the terrorist suicide bomber from when he was recruited, to training, to the mission, to blowing up the target. im sick of being the swat guy that shoots the school shooter, i want to be the guy the depressed bullied mentally whatever school shooter. im sick of playing soviet/american/british in ww2 games, i want to play nazi or japanese. overlord is a poor excuse for "playing the villan" so dont even bring that game up. manhunt was closer to what im talking about. hell, y cant i at least play the joker/penguin instead of always batman even

discuss

You can play The Joker/Penguin/Harvey Dent on Lego Batman if that helps.

I see where you're coming from with your argument though playing Nazi's and terrorists may cause uproar with the general public especially those affected by 7/7 and 9/11.

TC your grammar was fine, some people just try too hard to be cool on this forum. Anyway I agree with you, I thought about this the other day. The only games that are like that besides Manhunt are games like No More Heroes and Hitman. If they're not going to make games where you're a villain, they should at least make more games where you can choose your path. Those are the games I really enjoy. Edit: also God of War games are similiar.

ya. like an splinter-cell/rpg kind of game where ur an undercover cia/special forces/mi6 operative that infiltrates a terrorist cell. but for whatever reason, like a sudden betrayal/abandonment by ur government that u misunderstand u stop contact with your agency and can decide to either become a fully participating member of the cell or choose to stick to the plan to bring em down solo. ud need 2 totally different storylines built into the game and ive never seen a game branch out in this way with such a huge decision but it would be cool. even in small areas, like if u choose to stay an agent maybe u have a partner in the cell with u thats also undercover that u can choose to kill or not kill, or if pick the terrorist side maybe kill the boss and frame another member for more money. the possibilites are endless that way. a true open world game. ofc every decision would have to have its own cutscenes and plot lines and dialogue and missions so maybe its a bit too ambitious for 2009

Ummm.....except for 4 and one of the portable games, you play a d-bag in every GTA game. and you can play as the Joker in the PS3 version of Batman:Arkham Asylum.

Not to mention mention all the games where you can choose to be a d-bag if you want to, like KOTOR1&2, inFamous....stuff like that.

Oh...and Fallout, and about a hundred other RPGs.

Actually I feel the need to point out that you didn't ask a question. You wrote a paragraph and then said "discuss."

Anyhow GTA, Darkness (a bad guy [sort of] fighting other bad guys)

gta 4 isnt open world gameplay. its just open world as in i can drive wherever i want. i should be able to choose to shoot pegorinno as soon as i meet him and ally myself with another mafia family. there is still a straightforward story in gta games and missions that must be followed a certain way. u cant say "no" *boom headshot* and go to work for someone else whenever u want.

and the games that do exist are usually fantasy like fallout or oblivion or kotor, nothing realistic modern and todayish. a game where you can play and drive around town irl and look at a random person/cop/soldier "that guy could easily be my character in the game "abc123"

no offense, but you're sounding like a child asking for too much. there's only so much a video game can do, and this is just being picky.

Then stop playing. You can whine all you want about it but until there comes a game out that has what you want, then you can't really do anything about it. Also this is Blog material.

I understand. Excluding games that give you a choice like RPGs, they should instead make a game based solely off the villain. Think of a 007 game where you play as Gold Finger or Octopusy and each mission has you focusing on completing terrorist acts, always beating Bond. If you base games too close to home ie WW2 or OIF, people Will get offended but base it off fictional events and characters, and the idea could work.

When APB comes out you will have the option to be a criminal who plays against other players who decide to be law enforcement. You should check it out, the beta just started.

I played the first Fallout game a couple of months ago. Nothing stopped me from shooting everyone in the face in that game. Talk to guy, get sidequest -> Finish sidequest, reap rewards -> shoot guy in the face. Repeat.

If you want to play as a villian.. just play games where you get o make the choices.. Like Oblivion.... I just go on a killing spree... killed off two cities before turning back to being a good character

I agree with a TC.

Think evil maniac bent on world destruction with a law group fighting him, except your the bad guy. GTAIV, Saints Row and other games let's you be "bad" but never "evil" if you get my point.

Well, there's also the Vivendi game called Evil Genious, where you run an evil lair and dominate your henchmen while you attempt world control.

Actually the kind of game that the TC is looking for already exists in a variety of titles but probably not enough of them. I still want to play a WW2 shooter as a German/Japanese soldier tho.

I really don't think he's looking for a choice to be good or evil, he's looking for a game that ONLY lets you be the bad guy.

Yes like GoldenEye Rogue Agent lol My new point- they need more villian games than what they have. Maybe a year straight full of evil..
