i prefer medium slow and fast are both bad, slow will make battles tedious and fast will make battles cheap.

It totally depends on the game and the genre.

Skyrim with fast paced gameplay would be horrid (ok, the menus could be a bit more accessible & quicker to use, but apart from that...)

And a racer with slow gameplay would be dead before it leaves the starting line.

Etc. etc etc.

that single point is what was i referring to, if its too fast, like suikoden 5 feels cheap in combat compared to 3 or older ones due the fast speed, the feel of fighting is gone, in short its something like the difference of arcade and simulation.

and that user mgs series is right i am yet to check mgs3 but i would surely take my sweet time enjoying it.

Slow enough so that I have a good idea of what's going on, but fast enough to keep myself from falling asleep.

I play several different types of games, so there is no "in general" answer.  In RPG's of course I like a more relaxed pace because I'm going to be spending a lot of time exploring and interacting with the environments.  When I'm working on a quest though, of course I want it to be interesting and fun - not boring.

In racing games I just want to race (and buy and modify cars until I've got a garage full of world-beating supercars).  So i guess that's pretty fast-paced.

In action adventure games I like something halfway in between - exciting combat interspersed with slower, more relaxed periods of exploration and environmental puzzle solving etc.

I'd rather play a game with slower and more methodical gameplay. I do like fast games games though, depending on what they are.

Depends... I'd say slower, but not so slow that the pacing is bad.

I don't really care either way, as long as the speed compliments the gameplay well.

In general I probably prefer a bit of a balance. I don't want a game so slow that it feels like such a drag to play and to progress through (castlevania Adventure on the GB is an example of a game that was way too slow). I don't want a game that is so fast that I can't even handle or comprehend what is going on, or so fast I am unable to properly react.
