Resident Evil- while back in the day the thought of shooting zombies was a nice concept but all that slow movement and backtracking was a turn off for me. But Dled off the PStore to take another stab it. MGS1- 1st saw this game in 1998 and hated it but in the early days of 2000, my fellow classmates was describing and detaling this game to the point i went out and bought for $20. This is new as i only buy Sports/Wrestling games. But as i was getting comfortable the game open with a cutscene that i was drawn into. To make long Story short top to bottom this game was a MASTERPEICE.

Yes, MGS1 is an absolute classic!!! love all of the MGS games actually, played them all countless times! I also love the RE series a lot, but I could never play 1... there was no ammo... also, although I played RE2 A LOT, I never could really get in to the fact you could only use ink ribbons to save the game (that you had to find as well!)..., but both are very good games. I just wish they remade 2 and made everything modern, and it would be nice if they put it in to chapters like RE4/5, but not change the game too much either. I also would like a Xbox 360 remake of RE1... I could never play it because of very bad lacking of ammo... seriously, there was none! would also love a remake of MGS1 to look like 4... that would be awesome!!!

Apparently RE1 Director's Cut has more ammo. Maybe you were trying to shoot every zombie you came across, which wouldn't be a great idea because it's wasting ammo and alot of the time you can run past them. As the police officer who said to Harry Mason in Silent Hill 1 - don't shoot unless you have to. I loved MGS1 and RE2, but RE1 was ok too. MGS was a masterpiece.

Got that right! and yeah, I think that was the problem actually haha. I remember trying to fully complete RE2 a while back and found it really hard compared to in the past, I kept running out of ammo because I became trigger happy and would not be happy until all the zombies are dead XD. Will try to do it again soon, and will take Harry's advice :P

Thats because we have been brainwashed by games like L4D where you jsut shoot at everything friend or foe, and even in the more recent RE there has been much more ammo than in the older ones. It takes some getting used to but its still an awesome game.

Is MGS1 a really stealthy game? because i tend to hate those as I have very little patience....Ive been thinking of getting it but if its too much stealth it might cost me a psp :P...

Good stuff Ashley. And by the way, it wasn't Harry's advice, it was the police officer's advice to Harry. Her name is Cybil Bennett. Have a look at this very brief part of a video for Silent Hill where she gives him advice, and you'll see the bit I'm talking about, her exact words are "And don't do it unless you have to" - she's referring to firing a gun. Watch the video from 2:55 and you'll hear what she has to say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvJcDYzSrec&feature=related

MGS1 isn't as stealthy as Splinter Cell. MGS1 isn't too stealthy, there's alot of action moments and your stealth is basically hiding behind walls and not getting in the vision of the guards. You can just shoot them though, but better with a silencer. You can grab guard's necks behind them and break their necks, or grab their neck and pull them somewhere.

both great games for various reasons. RE1 is still the scariest game I've ever played, especially on the Gamecube. MGS1 kick started one of the most epic storylines we've seen in gaming. Both great games to download if you haven't played them yet.

Yeah, I only played Silent Hill for like an hour because I couldn't get to the School... I was like 10 then :P. As I love RE games I have wanted to get in to SH for years now, I am going to buy Homecoming soon... then maybe 1? Yeah, MGS isn't that stealthy... it's like imagine playing Forza, then playing GTA (the driving). It mostly plays out for you and it's got a great story, awesome locations and VERY fun boss fights. You should definately pick it up, as well as Sons Of Liberty/Substance, Snake Eater/Subsistance and Guns Of The Patriots. Trust me, each and every single MGS game is AMAZING!!! they all have this fun feeling to them! :D

Haha well fair enough because if you didn't use the paper map that Harry collects then it will be hard to know where the school is. Even if you did use the map, maybe you were too young to fully understand it, who knows. But you should be able to understand it now because the arrow on the map is Harry, and you just look for the school on the map, and once you know both these things you just look at the roads on the map and say "I go left and pass 3 road junctions, then take the first left and go straight down untill I see the school to my right" - that's just an example of a good way to figure out how to get to a place in Silent Hill, I'm not saying that's the actual route to the school.

Well when I was a kid and had my PS1 that my mum bought for my Christmas, I played Silent Hill 1 back then and I really liked it. It's a psychological horror game but there's still action in it and with its music and atmosphere alot of people can get more scared while playing Silent Hill than RE. Here's a great clip to show this off - have a look at it from 4:15 untill the video finishes and you'll get a taste of what it's like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=952NoFhRBGA Maybe you didn't get this far, but if you did then it's a good scene to refresh your memory of the scariness of the game.

Yeah you're sure right about that when you say MGS plays out for you. It's like a high-budget movie where it just plays out for you and it really touches you. Great story as you said yep.
