it was segas responce to mario but it didnt catch. i think it was way better than mario with far better graphics but im in the minority on that.kit352
You're only in the minority because people who owned a Master System are in the minority. Alex Kidd was and still is a better game.

I couldn't agree more.[QUOTE="3KindgomsRandy"]

I couldn't agree more. neither can i. i still have my original master system. i remember being mocked in school cause we had one of the only systems. i still argue that its the better system just not as big a library. master system rocks.A perfect platformer in my opinion, I had so much fun with Alex Kidd in Miracle World :) Probably my favourite game of the 8 bit era.

The system was unable to get a bigger gaming library because developers at the time were tied by an exclusivity contract by Nintendo that basically didn't allowed them to develop games for any rival system. Developers fought back though, and eventually broke this contract, unfortunately by then it was to late for the Master System to benefit from this.
But still, the Master System did the best with what it had, and SEGA themselves reprogrammed and ported many games from other companies to their system. And I also agree with you that it was the better system.
I didn't kept my original Master System though, since when the Mega Drive came out we got the Mega Adapter and traded the system.
I dont get why the game gets so much praise, i found it quite boring, i just dont see what makes it great.GulliversTravel
I feel exactly the same about the Super Mario Bros. series. But still a lot of people like it.

I dont like the Mario games either, not one bit, maybe SMB3 to some extent but otherwise i think they are boring. The only older SM game i like is Yoshis Island, but then again, thats a different beast altogether. Truth is both Alex Kidd and SMB were fantastic for their time, but today they are just plain dull. I remember when i was younger any old 16-bit platformer was loads of fun but Alex Kidd, not so much. I had it built in into my SMS.As much as I love Sega and my Master System, I cannot say that Alex Kidd was the better platformer. SMB has really cool level designs and challenging platforming. Alex Kidd doesn't have the tricky jumps and timing that you need in SMB. The graphics are better and so is the music, but the gameplay goes to SMB.
"Platformer" is just another ambiguous and convulted category that people here in the West came up wit, and from what I've seen mostly applies to mascots or lighthearted looking characyers. Alex Kidd is an Action game and has a different gameplay focus than Super Mario Bros.As much as I love Sega and my Master System, I cannot say that Alex Kidd was the better platformer. Grieverr
And as for gameplay, Super Mario Bros is only about running from left to right jumping over stuff. Alex Kidd in Miracle world has vehicles. shops, Janken duels, vertical and horizontal scrolling levels and whole lot more action than Super Mario Bros could ever hope for.
Super Mario Bros is a simplier game from anyway you look at it. Alex Kidd is a much more ambitious and fuller game. It has much better gameplay.
Ok, but I think Alex Kidd is not as appreciated as Mario is. People need spend more time to play Sonic games and Sega needs another protagonist, not only Sonic.
Alex Kidd would definately have made the better jump into 3D. I know Sonic has its hardcore fans, but i've yet to play a 3D sonic game I felt was even slightly good.Raiko101
I agree about Alex Kidd but Sonic World was a great 3D sonic game on the Dreamcast. Alex Kidd should really make a comeback in 3D, I can see it being an immense platform games :D
Alex Kidd In Miracle World was a really good platform game. While I liked the NES Super Mario Bros Games, Alex Kidd is great if you also own a Sega Master System Console. My only problem I had with the game though was that the Jump Button was Button 1 which would get confusing at times for me but other then that it was a really fun game. Plus the graphics were really good even though I don't really care about graphics in a 8 Bit era still for an 8 Bit game it looked great. Also you should check out the Wonder Boy games too if you want to play other Platformers on the Sega Master System :)
Alex Kidd in Miracle World is my favorite game, but analyzing it honestly:
You have a powerful punch and a jump kick, they will help you in some dangerous places, but there is no a run button, so you won't jump so far. To beat some bosses you must dispute Jan-ken-pon ( It's was original, but if you memorise the boss's hand it will be easy). In this game Alex Kidd slides so much he cannot pass the level without care. Overall: The control is not as tough as you need (It means trouble). 7/10
Great design in 8-bits era, dynamic colors make the display clear. Well-drawn objects, nice use of hardware. But the borders are not perfects...There are some bugs that make some places easy to beat (You hit a punch in a border and it protrudes in the other border). 8/10
The song is nice enough and the SFX are compatible with the gameplay, they make the game nice. 9/10
A great nostalgic game that still in ours memories, SEGA made it right and it deserves a re-make.
8/10
What do you think about my review? Critics please! :)
If you played this game, what is your rating abou it. I'm saying it cuz it wa my first console game, and a think it's the best game ever... What do you think about Alex Kidd? Does he need a re-make?RodrigoLCardoso
No. Every single Alex Kidd game sucked. Miracle World was perhaps the least bad of the lot, but it was still bad. The action/adventure hybrid gameplay with non-sensical "puzzle solving" thrown in as a diversion from the boring platforming with bad controls and lots of money bags to collect (but almost nothing to buy) was perhaps a somewhat "unique" experiment but a total failure as a game.
And don't get me started on the rock-paper and scissors fights... pure luck, pfff...

Baseless conjecture....
You must chance your concept about puzzle and boring, there is no problem in "puzzle solving" (The game is only "Go through the platform, reach the end and beat the janken-enemies") and there is no problem in bad controls (It makes the game most difficult, Have you ever played Devil May Cry?!!).
Rock-paper and scissor is the most important, even if you are a skilled player you won't beat it easily. Pure luck?!!! You are wrong, only a bad player needs luck, a good player uses the Star! HEHEHEHEHE
Play more and learn about oldshool games!
I love the master system, but the only Alex Kidd I enjoy is Alex kidd in shinobi Worldkolkov01
HEHEEHEHHEEH! I have the cartridge of Alex Kidd in Shinobi World and Lost Stars, but, seriously, you must play Alex Kidd in Miracle World.

Ah, now that you mention it I prefer that game slightly over Miracle World (as if I'd prefer any of them). A shame that the game is easy and extremely short. Possibly the only Alex Kidd game with somewhat decent controls though, and it looks alright too.

Agreed...This game is really easy, I thought Ninja games (Shinobi or Gaiden) were extremely difficults (Do not say Naruto, please!). Whatever, Alex Kidd in Miracle World is better, not in the gameplay, Miracle World looks most friendly.
