Is anyone else tired of these Battle Royale type games

First, it started with mods for Dayz, but now with the popularity of PUBG, now we seem to be drowning in them. We've been getting Battle Royale in Fortnite, and just recently Black Ops 4 is getting one as well. It's like come on! Enough of that already! We already have enough on our plate as is!

What games don't fit the concept will die and those that fit will thrive.

Look at Fortnite, a game no one paid attention to on Early Access release, had it's own weird mode focused on building and no one cared honestly, and those that did was few, it was a very niche game. Then after the success of Battle Royale with PUBG; Epic literally swiped the mode (Blueholes words, not mine) and now it's bigger than the game that was known for Battle Royale.

Going back to the previous Shooter mode trends, Splatoon 2s best mode by many isn't Turf War, but Salmon Run 'aka' Horde Mode known better from Gears of War.

No but I haven’t played any myself and it hardly seems like we are overrun with them yet.

Honestly I don't hate those games but I do hate their impact to the gaming industry in long run. It discourages the developers to make single-player games and more multiplayer ones. Not just big developers like Bioware and Ubisoft are affected, even small indie ones don't want to be left behind in this 'great battle royale' race.

No, I love it. It's one of the few things in the modern gaming industry that I actually like.

I hate playing on a team or playing to score the most points or to capture the flag and pretty much all of the typical modes found in most multiplayer shooting games, so long before PUBG was ever released, I had been wanting to see more multiplayer shooting games include a "do anything that it takes to survive long enough to be the last man standing" type of mode. And I thought that there surely had to be other people like me that wanted to play as a lone-wolf survivalist, so for many years I had always wondered why something like this was not typically offered. Therefore, I'm glad that it has finally become a popular thing and more games are now starting to include this type of mode since people like me that have been wanting this type of mode have been ignored for far too long.

Even if you don't like it, there are other things in the gaming industry that are being much more overdone than Battle Royale games.

I'm no tired of it. I just don't play them. My younger brother and younger sister love Fortnite, and it looks like a fine game.

There are enough other games. The market is full with JRPG, Fighing games, and Musou, which are my favourite geners.

Ye, the market is completely saturated with all the BR games. It's 3, right?

@cboy95:I think it's just going to be another mode along with Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Domination... in every PVP game from now on. I'm sure we will be able to do battle royale on the moon of Endor soon in Star Wars Battlefront III.

We aren't overrun yet, but when cod and bf have one it will be way too much and annoying. Personally I got no interest in BR.

I don't think there are that many yet. Games always follow these trends, before this it was horde mode. In about two or three years when there are likely dozens on the market I'll probably be pretty sick of it, but for now I don't really care.

I hate the ones out currently, fortnite and pubg are trash. As far as cod getting battle royal. I've hated on cod for a while but I think they could make battle royal better. I'm interested and I haven't supported cod since mw2. Series went down hill with mw2.

Na, nobody is forcing me to play them, and plenty of others games to play.

Not exactly tired of them, I just don't like them. I'd much rather be on a team of some sort, I don't like free for all modes (cod term).

This genre is only now establishing itself so you've gotten tired of them too soon. I've only played PUBG and I really like it.

The market is already crumbled with these games. We are waiting for something better

PUBG is the only good battle royale game.

No, I like Battle Royale. It make me happy. Also I like that this type of games become very popular and now we can choose from a lot of different games with it.

i don't think it's obvious how many there are because PUBG and Fortnite are basically taking up all the oxygen, but a lot of people are starting to throw their hats in. There are at least 15 BR focused games coming out this year and the concept is spreading outside the shooter genre to include games like Maelstrom, which is a naval combat game.

Eventually it'll settle into becoming a standard multiplayer mode like CTF, Assault, etc, but for now the iron is so hot, people are releasing games that are nothing but BR. I mean, take Dying Light: Bad Blood - a standalone BR title born out of a single player franchise. It's a bit like a great song being played-out by a radio station (back when people still listened to the radio).

I'm just sick of seeing Fortnite plastered all over the internet.

It all started with H1Z1 and Arma 3, then it just sky rocketed from there

@cboy95: Eh, Fortnite is a bit annoying at this point, but it's not like anyone is forcing you to play them. Also, I think the genre can keep expanding. If we get a game that is truly like the Hunger Games, I would probably really like it. Fortnite doesn't quite capture that feeling for me.

I can't stand people talking about pubg or fortnite. I don't hate the game, but hearing people talking about those games every single day it starts to annoy me.

I feel like its probably fine as another gamemode thrown into current fps games alongside CTF, TDM, etc. But as a whole game? It gets boring pretty fast. I've only played it solo so maybe its better with friends? Though i imagine being beheaded would be slightly better with friends.

Choices are good. How many fighting games are there, driving, shooter, platformer? Far more of every other genre than there is BR. So, no, not at all. Can't wait to see Battlefields version.

No, because I don't play them. They are popular right now, but just like the changing seasons, they will pass with time.

No, but I am fed up with the comparison of both games i.e PUBG and Fortnite, that people even fighting over it.
I heard that 2 or more games are coming to Battle Royale mode like Maverick and H1Z1, so let's hope that these games will add some good experience while playing like Fortnite did.

@lembu90: I don't think "Battle Royale"-mode is to blame. Multiplayer has been an important part of the gaming industry for many years now. I blame COD and microtransactions.

There hasn't even been that many games with the mode. I personally love PUBG and Fortnite. It brought back an excitement in MP shooters that I haven't felt in a while.

Yes. I bought PUBG and found it to be very dull and ugly to look at. I couldn't understand the hype. To each his own.

i dont like it, i just think its new and a fad its already shrinking in player numbers. it just gets boring with 100 players and only 1 life some matches take to long. now if it was tdm with 100 players, and the map got smaller that would be different

I'm definitely getting there, but I wouldn't say I'm tired completely. It's just the oversaturation in the market/media that's killing it for me right now - but if something new came out with a completely different spin (or at least different enough) on the formula, I could definitely be onboard again.

Never played one, but I'm tired of hearing about them. Guess I shouldn't care, I don't mind not being a part of what is currently popular. And it'll probably only get shoe-horned into franchises I don't really care about. Well, unless Fallout 76 turns out to be some battle royale crap, although it sounds like it's going to be some other form of crap I don't want it to be anyway.
